This weekend my church moved into our new building (auditorium seats 1,200) and I finally got the chance to crank my Ghia up with out using the Air Brake at our College service (the other services I have to cut it back two notches). I was using a 2x12 open back(v30 and G12H) with my PRS CE24 and the tone was incredible. It was like a breath of fresh air. What was funny is that we had a new keyboard player who also plays guitar, and he came up to me after practice and complimented me on how great my amp sounded. He asked me how many watts the Ghia had and when I told him his Jaw immediately dropped to the floor. He couldn't believe that 18w would give you that kind of volume. I had it facing the back wall with plexi glass around the back and sides. Can't wait till next weekend!

As one of it's MANY tricks, yep, the Ghia does the "sweaty" amp sound better than anything else I've ever played!~

Wish I could be there for that ! Let us know when you release it. You know, even with my Ghia I get that "you ain't in the mix" stuff, the Ghia is one ballsy 18 watter !!

And most of all have FUN!

In my mind it's the greatest side of this amplifier yet it is rarely written about. I almost returned a brand new Ghia as I was judging it on it's ability to emulate the prodigious clean wallop of the Maz jr. which I learned this amplifier can't do with the same impact however........ CRANKED is where the Ghia knocks my socks off whether it's Jimmy Paige , Rolling Stones or ZZ Top..........it does them all and then somehow also pulls off a bit of Wes! I actually think it's a Vox/Marshall type crunch along with Z's bag of earthy grains and what could be a better result?

hifivic, what are your impressions of the EJ Strat?
thx ;D

It's the best sounding Strat made including Master Built versions. EXTREMELY woody sounding, 57 pickups are awesome as is the finish especially fretwork. Love the necks "various shapes". So far I've ran it through a Mini, Maz 18JR with and without verb, a Ghia, 59Bassman RI LTD, Deluxe Reverb RI, Twin 40th Anniversary, Victoria 5112, Victoria 20112 T, Orange Rocker 30, Mesa Lonestar Special, Mesa Dual Rec and Stiletto and it's been GLORIOUS through ALL of them!!!!
YOU NEED ONE JUST BUY IT ;D

I tried an EJ strat the other day. I thought the neck had too much finish for my taste.
Hey hifivic, do you play out anywhere around Indy?

Yea, I could also do with a bit less finish but the physical shape of the neck and sound quality make me forget about the thick finish on the fretboard. I am a 53 year old closet guitar affecianado that plays for my own comfort at home although I have sat in for a band or two a few years ago. Where are you located...........I run the Ovation Audio in Castleton?

A lot of finish/paint on backs of necks is what I don't like. The finish on the fretboard should be OK after you play it for awhile. And the size of that neck was like a baseball bat! I actually didn't mind that, though...
It sounds like you really like the pickups in that. Do you know if those are unique to the EJ model?
I don't want to bore everyone else about Indiana, so I'll send you a PM about where I am.

They are Custom Shop built to EJ's specs..........I've heard before that they are similar to original 57 p/u's.

Hey, Kruzty, nothing boring about Indiana! Well... I grew up in Gary, actually Merrillville, and THAT was pretty boring. And almost went to Wabash or DePauw foer college, which would have been... who knows..?
Opted instead for central ILLINOIS (Carlinville). Now THAT's BORING...
