My R66 seems to be lacking the livelyness and "balls" it had when I bought it.........I hope I am not going insane..........but it just sounds weak and flabby. With Volume on 2 oclock, Treble on 3 oclock......bass on 10 oclock.......the bottom end sounds kinda trashy or farty.....both with buckers and s. coils ....if you ever heard the song "journey to the center of the mind" by ted nugent and the amboy dukes.........or "spirt in the sky".........thats what it sounds like.........Its 5 months old............played through a z best..........gigged 3 times a month or so.........At really high volume........volume nearly dimed.......I can still sit in from of it and mostly just hear this "pressury sound".......bottom not tight and focused like when I first bought her.............
could it already need to be rebiased?

Did you stick a new set of power tubes in too or just bias the old ones?

Just biased the old ones Tas...........
I know I could probably improve things with a power tube upgrade, but these stock GT's are cool right now.......

Hey James just saw your post in the "Ask Myles" section. I would think you need a new set of power tubes by the sound of things. As for the biasing, Doc recommends around 28-32 so I wouldn't really call it "cold". I have mine biased a little hotter at the moment as I play mainly rock, somewhere around 32-36. Myles will probably give you a more definitive answer but it sounds like new power tubes to me. Cheers.

I had mine all checked out by a tech and its working just fine. Actually just replaced the EF86................gettin all the "creamy" tone from those soundclips that I want!
I suggest you just get a good tech to give it a once over and make sure its biased corectly and all that good stuff. Then you can work from there.
Turn the volume up to 3 oclock, treble up way past 12 oclock and bass around 1 oclock............With my les paul and a 9k lindy frailin humbucker, I am in tone heaven.
Good Luck!
