I recently bought a Ghia online....serial No.J-7233. When it arrived, I noticed that there was only one speaker out (8 ohms) and that the power cord was now coming out of the chassis and the old detachable power cord port was covered up. Is anyone familiar with this mod?
Tubes it came with are:5Y3 EL84,EL84, 5751 and 7025(?). I'm not sure about the last tube but I think it may be a 12AX7 replacement/alternate? I just received it today and saw all of this during lunch break and will try it out tonight.

The tube complement is OK. The 7025 should go in V1, farthest from the power tubes.
The cord comes out of the old 4 ohm?
That's odd. You could buy a new cord for next to nothing...unless the jack went. I don't see any advantage.

Thanks for the info on the tubes. The power cord is coming out just to the right of the old power cord port. The other speaker out is covered by a plastic cap.

My guess is it's a home repair of a busted power cord port. I would have a tech check to make sure it is grounded properly. A retube is always nice with a 2nd hand amp, too. Most people ship them with cheapo tubes that they have lying around.
I'm not sure why the cap on the 4 ohm. Some folks put a plastic plug in the jack, just to avoid plugging the cab into the wrong output if its dark or hard to see.
If you are concerned, or have problems, you could send it back to doc. He does quick repairs for very reasonable rates. He could give it a check up and retube it for you i'm sure.
