Anybody use a Tube Screamer with their Galaxie? (specifically on Ch1 - and yes I do know Ch2 is dirty...)

First, I did read your disclaimer about Ch2 - dirty.
The first week I had my Gal I took it over a friends. A freind who can't say any thing without saying tubescreamer. We both agreed that day that the Gal was like having a ts built in. We also heard much more clarity from the Ch2.
The ts (80's ts9) worked great too. Kinda softened the tone maybe cause of the compression.

Why? Tubescreamers suck! They are a mid range hump monster. Most of What SRV did to his guitar, amp, settings, etc... was trying to combat that mid range hump. I own about 45 dirt boxes, and make them myself. I suggest this: Buy a Wampler pedal, and pick one that is like your favorite amp. If you are not interested in a $200 pedal, buy a $50 Danelectro V2 Transparent Overdrive. These things rule!

not trying to threadjack- but I'm thinking about a Galaxie and have the Danelectro "original" Transparent OD. I know it's inexpensive, but I bought it RIGHT before the V2 came out. Is it worth switching to the other version?

1 mo' time.................NO TS required w/the Galaxie. Juss' stomp on the included footswitch Dawgg.
If you must use an OD on channel 1, consider the Flying Dragon. Nice compromise between channel 1 clean, & channel 2 dirty.

The ONLY thing this amp MIGHT need is a little time modulation ;D
Maybe an Air Brake

A TS with the Galaxie is about as useful as teets on a boar. IMHO
A clean boost can be very nice especially with lower output pups.
But I have found that setting the guitar vol on about 5 then adjusting the Gals volume to taste (for me its usually 12:00-1:00 channel 2 to 3:00 on channel 1, although higher works great too!), then cranking up the guitar volume is all the "tube screaming" I need. All my dirt boxes ruin the Gal's inherent tone and gain.
The Fulltone Deja Vibe can add a lot of coolness.

Yea I use my Keeley Comp as a boost. The less pedals with this amp the better.
