Just wondering if theres any others running this combination. I've used this same Hotplate for years with a '69 Bassman and JMP Marshalls (mostly just 4db cut) and have been ok with the resultant tone, but there's just something about the RXES that's different.Even at the 4db cut I feel there's a loss of dynamics, more noticeable than with the other amps. Is the difference perhaps because it's class A ? Thinking along those lines I actually bought the Hotplate from a mate who didn't like it with his Matchless DC30.

I have the Hot Plate and the Airbrake, and for the RXES I like the Airbrake better.

Thanks bent .... so it's not just me.Could you elaborate on what it is you hear that makes you favour one over the other. I recently picked up an Ultimate Attenuator, but that's a different thing than the 'brake and 'plate.

Well I should do some testing because what I'm hearing might be the way I have the Hot Plate set, but with all features activated, the Hot Plate adds some small amount of distortion to the sound. At least I heard it on my attenuator test where I compared the Airbrake and Hot Plate. That was all done with the RXES set for a real nice clean sound, and there is no question you can hear distortion on the Hot Plate that isn't there with the Airbrake. Ah yes I remember that thread, very informative.I think we all learned something from it.Thanks for reminding me. I never use the switches. In a live setting it's just the 4db click, to take the edge off the volume, and often I found that a bit much.Perhaps the AB is better suited with it's smaller increments of attenuation and more transparency.
