I play a RXES through a 212 openback Z cab loaded with Blues. My primary guitar is LP R8. For a year now, I've plugged into the hi input.
Over the last few weeks I've switched over to the lo input - I'm diggin' it. I've been able to pump the vol up a notch or two when playing with the band, which is cool. The tone is still crisp and articulate, purely Z. The wound strings stay tight without losing any bottom. I'm pleased, the change is nice.
With tone and oneness, Mike.

Ditto... matter of fact, I usually use the low input in all my Z's.

Really I play a Les Paul Custom thru the high side too, I have always been afraid about going to the other side. I will have to try it, I use a few pedals for overdrive did you notice that you had to adjust your pedals once you swtiched. Thats if you use any pedals with your set up?

Initially, I was concerned that the tone would mush out, be too bassy, not as articulate as when in the hi input; such was not the case. The tone was still there, perhaps with a little less top-end sizzle, but still great, articulate tone. I've played with a couple of gigs with the band now (a more than a few practices) and I'm still sold.
I use an Xotic BB and a Fulltone Fatboost - very minor tweaking of each to find the sweet spot.
BTW: I use an AirBrake and the tone is "always there" when using the lo input, even with a click or two on the AirBrake.
With tone and oneness, Mike

I gave it a shot last night at practice, and your right that top end sizzle is less. Which is nice because my custom seems a little on the bright side. My OCD pedal didn't really like it I had to fiddle around with it to get it where it sound good to me. Thanks for helping me thru the switch I really needed it.

I frequently use the low for 50's R+R theme nights on the ships.I find it's a bit 'spankier' with my pauls. And being cleaner I get a really good solo boost with the overdose footswitch.

I've almost always used the low input for bluesier and rootsy stuff because it's cleaner and gives more control with the guitar volume, especially with buckers. Turn the amp up more to get into power tube overdrive and then compensate with the guitar volume. I do really like the high input for slide though. tons of fun there.

I have been using the low input since I got my RxES and I can't complain about a thing. I was tuned into the low input thing at the same time someone told me to dime the master and use the volume for "master" volume on my MazSr. I will try the high input on the RxES to see if I like it any better but I'm kinda use to the low and how it works with everything else. The RxES was very easy to dial in BTW. It's similar to the Maz (imo) in a lot of ways.
