I just got an '06 RxES head that has an odd low frequency hum. The hum goes away when you engage the overdose mode and seems to be a constant volume level; it doesn't get louder when you turn up the volume and you can hear the hum with the amp on but volume all the way down. I'm using the same power source as my Z-28 and Mazerati heads, which are both dead quiet. Any suggestions?

Thanks, the good doctor also suggested taking the V3 phase inverter out and powering the amp on to see if it was still humming.

It was definitely the EF86, but I tried 3 different Electro-Harmonix EF86s in it and they all hummed to varying degrees. Do these EH EF86s suck?
I took the AEL EF86 out of my Z-28 and put it in and the hum is gone.

Mine has a low hum when on standby. Ive swapped all the tubes out. I figure its a transformer noise. Bought mine new, the maz jr doesnt do it. Hasnt bothered me enough yet to do anything about it.

Yeah, it's the EF86. Mine had a similar hum that went away in OD mode. The Z-Best's Lo Hz resonance exaggerated the hum. I replaced the EF86 and now the RXES is dead quiet and sounds killer!

I just bought a used ES and I have the same low hum when the OD switch is in down ]position. I bought a new EF86 Dario,I hope this works. Im running it through a 1x12 Weber Ceramic Blue.!! Sounds great, killer low end and doesnt bottom out. I have a Maz 38/1x12 and a Galaxie 2x10. These ES's area killer amps!!
