Hi guys,
I have a maz 38sr 2x12 w/ greenbacks.... after much thought, i think i would like to get a different amp or different dr z with more clean headroom. i can't afford to have two z amps and someone recommended the RX to me. Can any of you with experience playing both tell me which in your opinion has more clean headroom??
Thanks!

Can any of you with experience playing both tell me which in your opinion has more clean headroom?? Thanks! My first Z was the Maz 38, and I now have an RxES. I find that the Rx has more headroom generally. But the comparison is a bit like apples and oranges, mainly because the Maz Senior is a master volume amp, and I always found that the MV had a bit more of an impact on the quality of the amp's clean sound than a non-MV amp like the RxES. Also keep in mind that the ES's overdose switch can add not only volume but a good deal more aggressive grind. Furthermore, those Greenbacks are inefficient speakers and will give you a lot more early speaker breakup than G12H's or V30s, so that will also have an impact on the quality of your clean with the Maz 38. They are both versatile amps, but in different ways. After owning and using both I have a personal, strong preference for the RxES over the Maz 38. Having said that, I also now have the Stang Ray and am selling the RxES, so if you're interested in getting one send me a PM and we can talk. Daniel
