While I understand it's up to those with the power. My EZG/Jazz combo thread will now be squashed with limeted hits and very little chance people will see it or read it because it was moved to a dead section of this site. I think you should at least move it to the Jazz section also. Not like it matters. I seam to be the only person in Z-land that thinks that taking the time to cut the tolex to have solid creame, red, or surf green combos would look better than spraying every face with black stuff. DAVE FWIW, Dave I agree with you on the solid color tolex issue. Just simpler, cleaner and neater looking IMO.

Dave, I PERSONALLY made the call to move the thread. I put it it where it belongs, using the forum title areas as a guide, as you should have. Accusing me of putting it in a dead area to draw less attention or whatever... You know where can stick that idea... UP YOUR SWARTS!! ;D ;D ;D ;D If you have a problem with that, PM me as it's time to take this outside... PaulT

Would you be so kind as to humor me and explain what's going on with the Tolex? Thanks!

Yep that is the thread. The deal is they are not tolexing to speaker area. They are useing a spray on stuff like bedliner stuff.
I hear it's spreading also. Maybe early model collectors items. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________.
On the matter brought up by Bluzman. I understand his stance but it was not ment as an insider move to squash the thread. Farther explanation has been sent to Bluzman.

I wonder if the spray on black is a cost cutting measure or a "kewl" factor. Either way, I'm with you, I'd rather have matching Tolex. Not that my opinion matters though!

My guess would be that it is to speed up the cab production as it's kinda a standardizing thing. Not so much cost, but you would end up wasting a small area of tolex on every combo cab you made. Now that they have two amps sharing the same cabs it might add up to alot of tolex and time. Regardless I don't care for it either

Could it be because of the oval shape of the speaker cut out? Possibly to difficult/time consuming to cut and notch the tolex to make it look nice and neat? I'm not a tolex redo-er so I don't know how easy it is to form it around the oval opening.
I know that on pool tables they have to cut a couple/few notches in the felt so that they can wrap it around the shape of the pockets.

Now this was at the shop and cab never left, I couldn't have this. So I looked for alternative since tolex wouldn't work long term. Much to the chagrin of asat, but some times things are done for good reason, function following form. DR.Z

I think he was wondering if Gold was an option also.
I don't have the answer but most spray on companies and suppliers of this spray on material offer different colors, but reguardless if they are doing this in house or sending it out it would be hard to say how many of each color. More so for Black and Gold amps. Not that it needs an explanation but this is why I said "kinda standardizing" because from what I have heard all the Jazz and EZG combos and heads are now being made this way with a sprayed oval. That is why I said "maybe an early model collectable" earlier.

I wasn't expecting that! ;D I was actually wondering if it could be had in the Blonde or Red to match the Tolex. I'm not a big fan of the two-tone scheme. I could be wrong, but I would think they would offer it in other colors besides black. And the Black and Gold aren't doing all that well this year so far...
