I've got a Stang and just sold an RxES.... So you can see which one I like best I do and did like the StangRay best, but in looking for a backup amp, I can't seem to find another amp I liked as much as my RxES since selling it? (side note: I've got a Mazerati on the way, we'll see if that fills the void) The RxES distorts different and I REALLY liked the way it sounded pushed. The cleans are nice, but not as full sounding as the Stangray, but almost as nice. This amp really likes to be drove hard. The StangRay sounds good pushed or not, clean or broken up a bit..... The only place the RxES beats the Ray is in it's overdriven tones.... but the amp has to be so loud you need an attenuator to make it usable or playing a BIG room. The Ray has more low end, the Rx has more mids and highs available. I've got some clips of both amp at www.guitartest.moonfruit.com , not as good as benttop's clips, but some more to get a good idea of what it sounds like.

Thanx for the comparison telejas, got my RXES stack complete today, with my Marshall 2*12 with one V30 and one G12Heritage. Man this thing sounds really good, but Looouuud! Good thing i bought an airbrake. I almost hope I don't get to try a stang, think that will be an expensive experience. But for now, I'm very happy with the sound!

You'll be surprised at how loud you can actually play the RXES in a live show - louder than you think anyway.

Yes i can only imagine, turned it up to 4 with the overdose on today. My god what a sound! It was loud but the best I've ever heard, really powerful and clear with a touch of tube saturation, very bight but not ear piercing. Thats one great quality with this baby. Nice clean top but i cant get it to be harsh or like i said, ear piercing.
Now Ive got the best tone in Sweden:D

Back to the original question "Stangray or RxES". I just wanted to add my two cents worth. I own both and I love both amps. Just like Bentop's soundclip confirms both amps sound way cool together! I am not a country player! I went this route because of my love of Vox amps. But if my dog ran away, someone stole my pickup and my wife left me for another women and I really had to sell an amp, I could not part with the magic sound of my Stangray. The RxES would have to go. Granted the RxEs has a little more tonal variety. I just can't get a bad sound to come out of my Stangray.
Just my opinion.

That said.... You really can't go wrong either way. Both amps are better than any other amps i've ever owned. ;D

Well there it is. If I absolutely HAD to get down to one amp, I agree it would be the Stingray, hands down. I love both, but the Stingray stands on its own if you ask me.

Darn! Now I want a stang too. Which one would you say comes closest to Brad paisleys live sound? Don't know which one of them that sounds so good on his live performances.

Honestly you can't go wrong with either amp. But if you buy a Stang Ray you probably won't turn loose of it...
