I got it in today. I sold my Maz jr for it and I am completely happy that I did! Amazing amounts of headroom (which was why I bought it) and the OD sound is incredible! I am getting some bad microphonics so I ordered some tubes.. I can not wait to hear how she sounds with new tubes in her! Also, this is my first experience with Greenbacks, I'm still building my opinion on those.. right now I am leaning towards replacing them, but we will see. Anyways, I just wanted to drop in and rave about the amp a little!

. . . this is my first experience with Greenbacks, I'm still building my opinion on those.. right now I am leaning towards replacing them . . . My RxES cab was originally (and mistakenly) sent loaded with Greenbacks. I had to wait a couple of weeks for delivery of a G12H and a V30, and gigged with the GBs a couple of times. I think you'll find that the G12H/V30 combo, or G12H/Alnico Blue combo will be MUCH better than the GBs. The GB a less efficient speaker, and you'll get a much earlier breakup with them. And I just felt that the sound wasn't nearly as nice. With another combo you'll get better bottom end; more open, breathing tone; a great blend of clean and gritty; etc. BUT ... some people swear by the GBs.

Yes.. I am thinking about those 2 combinations right now.. If I can afford a Blue and G12 I will get that.. but since I am young and poor I will probably go with the G12/V30 combo. Either way I think you are right.. I'm really not diggin the GBs. Although.. the RX still sounds incredible! After a year of buying and sell everything I could try.. I think I've found my amp!

I think that the Blue is Weber's version of the GB (someone please correct me if I'm wrong), so you might want to try getting that G12 in first and seeing how you like it.
Just a thought, I know I really like mine with the Silver/Blue combo.
Oh, and welcome to the club!

I think that the Blue is Weber's version of the GB (someone please correct me if I'm wrong), so you might want to try getting that G12 in first and seeing how you like it. tomtheguitarguy - The Weber alnico blue is a version of a celestion blue - The Weber ceramic blue is, from what I thought I read, his version of a G12H (maybe mixed with another speaker). You can find an eminence Red Fang, another alnico blue copy, for around $125 or lower sometimes (got mine new for $135 on ebay) - Also try TGP. You can find a Weber alnico silver bell for around $100 or lower (sometimes) here, ebay and TGP. But those are usually 30wt versions (red fang is only 30 wt), so if you're wanting more low end, save for the 50wt speakers. I've got a cab loaded with 30 wt speakers and one with 50 wt speakers, and the 50wt cab is a bit nicer IMO.........But if going with a G12H, you'll have plenty of bass.

Maybe try living with greenies a bit, I felt the same way at first but now I'm picking out some things I really like about them...Seems like the high end has softened a bit. For me its a loud amp already so I'm not looking for volume.... Good luck.

wow, thanks for every ones responses. It looks like I will be living with them for a while.. I am in no position to buy replacement speakers right now. But that is ok. My tone is blowing people away already!
