For months I did my research on this amp and everything I was reading about it was telling me that this amp would be the perfect amp for me and what I was looking for tone wise. For years I played high end Fender and Marshall amps one being the Fender Vibro King and the other a 50 watt plexi that was just a tone monster in itself ( I had it modded) Now that I own the Remedy I have to say that this amp is a hard act to follow. The cleans are rich sounding with a huge 3D vibe behind them the touch sensitivity feel of the guitar and strings it's all there...... I run a full pedal board with it too and it takes pedal's very well. Not that you even need pedals with this amp the overdriven tones are awesome with the high volume and the normal you can dial it in to whatever your own personal taste is. I play Fender Stratocaster's with 69's in them so I use effects to warm it up..... I have yet to try a les Paul or a guitar with Humbuckers through the Remedy I am actually afraid too...... I don't want to end up buying another guitar right now. ;D The bottom line is this amp put's a smile on my face whenever I plug into it because of the tone that comes out of it . The Remedy is second to none as far as I am concerned. I am lovin it. ;D

Warning-Warning! Keep those humbucker guitars away from the Remedy. It won't be long before I get one.

Yep. Phenomenal amplifier - another world class outcome from a world class company. All these years I've wanted "that" tone, but I wasn't willing to buy a finicky, unreliable Marshall to get it. Now I have an ultra-reliable Z amp that gives me "that" tone and a lot more. How great is that?

If you want great tones and quality, pick a Z or two and be happy. Remedy is awesome with HB as well.

If you want great tones and quality, pick a Z or two and be happy. Remedy is awesome with HB as well. I had two services I played at today and this morning I took my Remedy and tonight I had a smaller Church I played at so I took the Maz 18 Jr Nr. The maz was perfect in that setting I had the brake lite on 3 and the volume at 12:00 the master at about 2:00 and the cut at 12:00 and the treble mid and bass dimmed and the maz really opened up with those settings that little Church was rockin and the maz hung tight with the hammond B3 and the drums .... No doubt Dr z amps rock and you can't just buy one.... ;D I still have to admit though the Remedy is my personal favorite.

faze, just wondering if its possible to give some indication of how the Remedy compares to your Vibroking? I have a VK and a 57 Twin ri, but I'm still looking at Z's as an alternative, and the Remedy is getting more and more attractive. As it has 6V6's, is it possible to get an overdriven Fender type sound with it? Thanks!

As it has 6V6's, is it possible to get an overdriven Fender type sound with it? Thanks! Mickey The Remedy compared to the VK is like apples and oranges. The first amp I bought to replace my VK was actually the Maz 18 Jr Nr. Now it can get that Fender overdriven type of tone you are talking about.... I know the Remedy has the 6V6 tubes in it however the tones are more Marshall Plexi oriented. The Vk is a great amp. I played them for years but you have to crank them up loud. The Remedy has a fantastic clean tone that is 3D like and very touch responsive. The overdriven sounds are thick and harmonic it can sound very warm too. It is the best amp I have bought in years. Dr Z makes some other amps that will get you that Fender overdrive tone If you are looking for that. The Remedy clean and overdriven is more based on the Marshall Plexi type of tone with the Dr Z twist... If you play a Z you know what I am talking about.. ;D Don't ask me how he did it with the 6V6 tubes but he did it. The Remedy has that Marshall vibe all the way. When I got the Maz Jr to replace my Vibro King I was immediately happy. The Maz was able to give me much more then the Vk and at reasonable volumes. The Maz is like some say the swiss army knife of amps with it you can get Fender,Marshall and Vox tones out of it.... I really like the Maz Jr too. Killer amp no doubt. The overdriven tones are great on the Maz Jr NR model and many players don't even use pedals with the maz or the Remedy they both have great overdriven tones in them already I hope this helps and answers your question...... Maybe some of the other posters here who have more knowledge and experience with some of the Doc's other amp's can suggest another Z amp that is in the line of what you are looking for.... Either way you can't go wrong with the Dr Z amps they are high quality and reliable. faze

faze, thank you for such a detailed and helpful response. I've had my VK for at least 10 years, and it's a wonderful amp, but, as you say, loud, and really too loud for me. I actually traded it for my 57 Twin, but immediately missed it and bought it back! The Twin is great too, but I've decided it's still not what I want, so I'm looking seriously at Z's again. I spent a good couple of hours on a Maz Jr w/rev through a 2x10 a while back, and wasn't convinced. Sounded great through a Z best, but that's too big for me. I briefly tried the NR version, and really I preferred it, but didn't buy one because I thought I needed reverb. Now, with the '57 Twin, I realise I don't, even though I've used reverb for more years than I care to remember! So I'm now thinking of a Maz Jr NR with a couple of small cabs for versatility. Also, so many folks here say wonderful things about the Remedy that I've got to try one, and will do soon. My ears are tuned in to Fender amps, but I'm certainly willing to try others, so if the Remedy is more Marshall voiced, that should be interesting.
Thanks again, great response!

I know what you mean about the Vibro King I have had and played them since 1996. I went through 4 of them. I ended up doing the same thing selling one then ended up buying another one! lol! The bottom line was they only sounded good to me when they were at 3 or 4 volume wise and I play in church so I rarely got to do that.. most the time I would have mine at about 2 and even then it was too loud so I ended up going with the Dr Z amps and I honestly have no regrets.
I really would check out that Remedy or actually the Jazz 20/40 may be the prefect replacement for your Vibro King. It has a killer reverb and the trem in it so I would say it would be an amp that might be just what you are looking for. It also has the 20/40 watt option like the Remedy which is genius in my opinion. You just can't go wrong with the 20/40 watt get you a brake lite or a air brake and you have a amp that you can jam at home with or anywhere for that matter.
I put the brake lite in both my maz jr and my 1/12 cab for my Remedy. Im loving it.
