Ok so I know its my first post on this forum, and I know it's supposed to be like, "man this amp is incredible........", but I got two songs into my first gig with the rxes and it just stopped working, still have the jewel light, swapped guitars cables bypassed pedal board all that stuff, still nothing. Since the amp was so new, I didn't bring a backup. Ended up doing the rest of the show with my acoustic. I'm not sure what the issue is, tried new fuses this morning and still nothing. I just received the amp last Monday, so it's only a week old. Yes it was outdoors and very hot, and, unfortunately, it was in TEXAS(haha). Everything aside, when it worked it was absolutely incredible. I just need to know if I'm missing anything obvious before sending it back. I have already invested in a road case for it, so I really want to keep this amp. Thanks for any info.

You may have had a rectifier tube go south. You could save some time if you had a spare and pop it in there - if that's what it is (and assuming your fuses didn't pop again) you may be right back in the game. I always gig with a spare rectifier tube because they can bring the whole amp down.

Ok, would a rectifier tube work out of my Fender Supersonic 112? Just looking for something I can rob to try to get it going. The fuses weren't blown, I had thought this to be the case, but after buying new fuses this morning, still nothing. I will try to send Dr z an email. Thanks for the responses.

If your jewel light is on, it's almost guaranteed to be tube related. Fender amps are notorious for going 20+ years on a set of tubes, Dr Z's do not. Like benttop said, a good idea to keep spare tubes close by. I wouldn't put the Fender rec tube in, instead you'll need a 5AR4. Bummer it had to go out so early on, I know that's frustrating!

Definitely let Dr. Z take you through the checklist first. Probably the worst beating tubes take is the trip in the amp via ground shipment... (Also reminds me to check my stash of rectifier tubes and be sure i have an assortment)....

I don't know what your Fender has in it, so couldn't recommend that. You'll need a GZ34/5AR4 type rectifier if that's what's gone wrong. If that's what the Fender has in it, you could pop it in the Z to see if it comes up.

Second the rectifier tube suggestion...I carry spare tubes/fuses all the time. It is somewhat of a pain but, the TONE makes it all worth it. Best of luck in getting her back up and running. Paul

Ok, so I thought I'd put a little closure on this post. The problem was actually the speaker, I called Dr Z and they sent me another celestion, and they were even nice enough to put a longer cable on it so I could easily use it with my Airbrake. Installed the new speaker, and now I'm back to rattling stuff off the walls again, I'm still trying to find the sweet spot with it. Luckilly, my neighbors are deaf(really, they are) so I don't get too many complaints. Thanks for all the suggestions, hopefully that's the last of my worries for awhile. It's definitely made me think twice about selling my Fender Supersonic, just to keep as a backup, just in case, ya know. Thanks again for the posts.

Wow, that's a new one! Haven't heard of a speaker problem here since I came here.

Hi simpy,
You should still always carry spare tubes for that amp, especially a spare rectifier tube. It might get you out of a jam next time.

Hi simpy,
If you don't mind me asking, what 1x12 Celestion speaker were you using with Rx Es? I find C-Gold works nicely with Rx Es.

Thanks again for all the suggestions, I really couldn't believe it was the speaker. After I removed it from the cab, I checked it with a 9v battery and got nothing, it was a Celestion Gold. The good Dr was even surprised about it. As for tubes, when I was troubleshooting the amp the only rectifier tube I found was a Mesa that I will keep as a spare, any suggestions or info for the el84s as far as name brands that would be the best would be greatly appreciated. I'm still pretty new at buying tubes. Thanks for reading.

Had to be a defective one. I've been playing my Golds quite hard here and they have not disappointed me. In fact, I used the SRZ-65 on one last weekend and got quite loud one night - probably exceeding 50 watts for sure.
