Just bought an RS EX; the one listed here on the forum last week. I've played one before, and although I loved it, I only had the funds for one amp, so I bought a Stingray. Well, I've never been able to get the sound of that RS EX out of my head and have been waiting a year for a clean used one to pop up.
Can't wait to get my mits on it. It's scheduled to arrive at my doorstep this Thursday!!!!!

Wow, this is getting to be a trend here - folks with both the ES and the 'ray. We have to name this new small club we've got going here... ;D
You're going to love it.

I have to admit that your RS EX sound clips were a big influence on my buying decision. Thanks SO much for posting all of the things that you do. Your playing is a pleasure to listen to. Great tone, technique, lots of feeling and very musical, melodic stuff. You've got all of the bases covered, dude!

Bentop's RXES into the Celestian Golds is one of the best clips I've ever heard. Especially when it comes to a sweet tone.

Well Mike, it made it to me safe and sound and is in the exact condition you described....mint and working flawlessly. After comparing to my Stingray, I'm going to sell or trade it. There are a lot of similarities with those two amps, so I think I may get a Galaxie for a real departure from the Ray. Many thanks Mike for your patience and help.

I find them to be quite different in many ways, so I'm keeping both.

Benttop, I agree w/you. I bought Guitarman1's RX so I am officially in the RXRay club. I too was greatly influenced by your clip w/both amps and much like that clip I have found my favorite amp of the two is both! They compliment each other nicely. I wish I had the funds to try a Galaxie as well and maybe I would agree w/guitarman1 that RX and Ray are too alike, but I can't give up the RX until I can try the Galaxie at home so I guess it's going to be a while before I try that. Unless you were to put together another clip???
The only problem with that whole idea is that I would probably want to keep all three and that's way too much dough for me to tie up in amps at the moment. Maybe the Doc should just make 1 amp so we wouldn't be so torn between all these choices. ;-)

Well I currently have three, and I am jonesing for at least two others that I'm currently aware of, and could conceive of several more if I was filthy rich. The thing about the RXES is that I can use it as a clean amp, but I can also use it for blues, for rock, and anything in between. I love the Stingray's clean tones, but to get to rock you need pedals. And pedals sound great with the Stingray, but not as good as the RXES!

I totally agree that there are quite a bit of differences between the tone of the Ray and RxES. For my playing, I found the RxES's percussiveness and ability to flat out deliver the best crunch tone I've ever heard was more up my ally. However, don't get me wrong, I still love the Ray for it's clean chime. While I can get an equally impressive clean tone from the RxES, there's a certain meatiness for lack of a better work about the Ray's clean. Both amps are fantastic.

Don't get me wrong, I see enough differences between the RX and the Ray to want to keep both (although I do see some overlap). My favorite is to crank the RX and set the Ray clean then use both for a full, sweet distorted sound, then click the RX off for a clean tone. I completely agree with AJ that both amps are fantastic.
It's just that I'm still jones'n a little for that Fender tone as well and a Galaxie sounds like an amp I'd like to get my hands on.
What do you guys call the three headed club? Besides maybe the "millionaires club".
And by the way... do they make a ABC/Y Switch?
