Here is the latest Z purchase... I played it last night for about 2 hours and was again knocked out by the versatility and power of this monster! The Z-best is stock. Any tone tips from my Z forum family?

Nice Rig Paul. Best tip I can think of is... Keep on pickin just like you do and wrap that b-bender tele up and ship it to me as you've already mastered it! ;D Actually, experiment with both of the low and high inputs w/and without the OD on. Many folks on the board like the low input and OD on. You'd be hard pressed to find a bad setting... Enjoy. Last but not least try maxing all of the tone controls, sounds extreme but I liked it! PM bentop for any of his RXES tips, he's been posing some ripping RXES clips.

Drew is right on - there are no real bad sounds in this amp, just some variation from setting the tone controls different. In a variety of situations, I've had the tone controls all maxed, I've had the treble and bass completely off with the Mid full up, etc. It all sounded pretty good. I think the speakers make a big difference on this amp too - it seems to like them all, but they all do sound different. Those are good tips on the two inputs and the OD as well - you could spend a good amount of time trying all of these variations, and I don't think you're ever going to say "well that sounded bad."

This amp has the goods...most impressive. All hail the Presciption ES! I flipped over the 112 combo I played at Doc's shop. I don't have gold speakers, but the Z-best sounds really great with the head. Drew - the Tele was put to use last night with some bob inspired bender licks...now if I could just play slide like you Steve - thanks for tone tricks. I will have fun with those. Dock66 - appreciate the comments. You guys are the best! My best, 6strang

I am jealous! I want a Z Best with my RXES!
Yeah, there aren't any bad sounds in the amp. Tube wise, its a great amp to experiment with. Especially since you can put differing pairs of power tubes in it without an adjustment. For a while I was using two JJ EL84S's for a while and then a pair of JAN/Phillips EL84's for the other. It was a cool mix of warmth and sparkle. Different pre-amp tubes will make a big difference as well. Check out KCA NOS, they've got lots of fun NOS tubes right now.

Congrats on the Rx, Paul! That's one he!! of an amp! It sounds great through a Z-Best, but try to hear it through a Weber blue/silver open back setup sometime. Killer!

It sounded sooo good last night at the gig. I love using the airbrake for volume adjustments. The overdose switch was used quite a bit too. I am really happy with this. I would love to have a silver/blue combo in another cab eventually... Thanks for the tips guys. Paul
