Well not brand new - Drew and I did a swap. He had the RXES and a 1x12 Mesa cab, I had the 6545. Now it's the other way around. Fed Ex took their sweet time getting the amp here - the cab came in three days but the head took another two - I was starting to get worried that we might have a problem, but when I got home tonight there it was on the front porch. Cool! I've only had about a half hour wank so far, and I used my THD 2x12 with the Golds since it was already set up in my studio. I'll probably set up the 1x12 tomorrow and see how it does. But on the Golds I thought the RXES sounded pretty darn good! This is one of the early RXES's with the front panel switch instead of a footswitch. Personally, that's going to work just fine. I use my guitar's volume to go from rhythm to solo, and the RXES seems to respond perfectly to that. First I tried my Mexi-Strat - I'm getting to like that guitar - and fiddled with the tones and volume a bit. I was running it through my Hot Plate so I don't wake the dead here, but it was immediately obvious the RXES isn't as loud as the SRV-65, but it's a lot louder than the Stingray. Cool! I've decided that I liked the tones I was getting with the amp wide open but the boost off. It was really singing like that! Next I tried my PRS Singlecut to see how it does with Humbuckers. Not bad! It definitely has it's own thing going on with the humbuckers - not the same as the SRZ-65, yet still a great articulated sound. Very cool! But at heart I'm a single-coil player, so I switched back to the Strat and just blared for a while. What a great sounding amp!

Glad to hear you're liking the RxES. I'd be interested to hear some clips showing how it compares to the Ray running through the Golds. Try to post some when you get a chance.

Yeah, ok, I can do that. Still working on my flipping taxes here, which is a complete drain on my time, but I'm hoping to have that done this weekend and then... clips! The RXES definitely evolves from the same parentage as the Stingray if you ask me. I didn't try my Tele yet, but with the Strat bridge pup I could hear the RXES will be in the same family as the Stingray. More gain though, and a bit different tone. And that OD switch! I'm envisioning a two-mic setup recording stereo and my Radial JX-2 A/B/Y - that would let me flip back and forth, and hit the combine button for all the glory.

I've thought about running both, each through one speaker in my THD 2x12 cab I re-wired and then using one mic on the cab so I could a/b between or run em together.... but it's STILL pretty loud together.... gotta do the tax thang too... procrastination..........

I hear ya man! I hate tax season. I always end up pushing it off until the last minute, even though I say I'm gonna do it early every year.

I may rewire my THD cab with the Golds so I can use two amps on it. That would be way more convenient than that Headbone device. But I REALLY like the Alnico Blues for the Stingray. The Golds are cool, but the Blues rule!

Well Alright! ;D Good to see both packages arrived safe and sound. Shipping can be hard on an amp but the good doc builds em road worthy. If he built tubes bet they'd be sweet and stout lil buggers. Glad to hear your diggin the new tones. Since Brad P had a voice in both the RXES and Sting-Stangray it's not a coincedince they have some similar characterists. Every Z has it's own special sound and are stellar amps. Steve I suspect you're gonna love the tele through the RXES. I got to push the 6545 a bit and am enjoying it. The KT45 side is way cooler than I'd thought it would be. Of course I had high expectations for the SRZ65 side and amp equally pleased. All Z amps are great... ;D I've been putting extensive hours at work and need more time on the forum and 6545 to get right...sorry for the absence. Congratulations on the new Rig! Two happy customers is a good deal and we're keeping the amps in the extended Z brotherhood (no offense Jen just a figure of speach as you're in the brotherhood)

I was wondering if Fed Ex was going to give me problems. When the first package came I told the guy there should be two. He says, No, I don't see but this one. But it DOES say on here two of two... So I sign for the cab and off he goes. THEN I think, shoot, I should have noted on there by my signature that I was only signing for one. But I didn't think of that till he was gone. But the second one came and they didn't wait for a signature since I had signed for the first - just left the head on the front porch in plain sight. YIKES! Sometimes I wonder about these guys...

Well, and that didn't count the new Mazerati I bought and traded for the 6545 here in Northwest territory - I wonder if the previous owner of the 6545 or the new owner of the Mazerati are on this forum?
