I have an Rx ES which I use almost always with the Overdose pedal ON. I know the old ones had a toggle switch. That would have been my preference in retrospect, but anyway, is there a way I can wire up a 1/4" male jack so I can just plug it in the to the Footswitch hole to complete the circuit? I probably just answered my own question but I want to be sure I don't screw something up AND I want to be sure it's wired correctly.
Thanks for your answers

Yes, you can wire a 1/4'' inst. cable to close the circuit (when you plug in the overdose will be on) (unplug = overdose off)

WOW, was I exited or what... I AM an Idiot btw... and Doc IS a GENIOUS! I remember I think I had just joined the forum.... I played an RX ES for the first time @ Elite Music in Montgomery AL when they first came out and it BLEW me away... So I HAD to order one... and then wait cause they sold that original head I played which was one of the first ones w/ a toggle switch like my old RX... should have got that 1st one on the spot... by the time I got back to order it months later of course it's long gone... the early one was a little different, much more like my old RX with a little less gain.. the one I ordered has WAY more gain available... both great amps... guess I kinda got the best of both worlds. the clean was so amazing and Then I heard a Stingray... ES is still amazing though...

I guess the same questions come around pretty often on the Forum...The angled, flat jack idea is the way to go. Thanks for the info y'all.

With my original RX, I always keep the Expand toggle on. But when I step on the footswitch and activate the boost circuit, it still kicks it up a notch. Significantly. It's like turning on a boost pedal or a compressor. Even with Expand already on. So it seems as if the Expand and the footswitch boost are not the same thing on the old RX.

EXACTLY Right! and I use my Original the same way... Expand on all the time... the boost is nice onthe Original too... I just don't use the boost on the Original... or RX ES much either. But I also use the low input on both, I like a little hair and some clean headroom then let the pedals have the fun. so YMMV It's like Doc flipped the expand up in the circuit on in the RX ES and then just took the knob off... boost works the same but just more drive... it hits that EF-86 hard I guess... BOTH GREAT amps...

I run my RxES pretty much the same as you guys. I go through the low input and keep the OD boost on pretty much all the time. Sounds great with my Strat and Tele. Perfect classic rock crunch that's very defined and articulate, but roll back the volume a hair and you're in twang city for country licks. I still want to get an airbrake someday and crank the amp up in the hi input with OD on and see how much gain this thing really has. It's just a little loud for that without the airbrake, at least for what I do. The lo input is the perfect volume for me. This has become my favorite amp for all styles of music. Just a great all around instrument.
