Hi Z-sters. I mostly lurk on this forum, and for that I'm sorry, given all the good info and lively discussion.
This here Remedy amp has me curious. It looks and sounds way cool, but I was wondering: does the tone of the 6V6s factor into the overall sound, the way they do in the Z-28? Z describes the "sweet sparkle" of the 6V6 as being "ever present" in the Z-28. Can we say the same of the Remedy?
I'm really interested in a 4 6V6 amp, and I'm really glad Z has a few more built around that tube.
BTW, if Dr. Z ever starts taking out ads on TV or Hulu or YouTube, I hope he'll license "A Quick One" by the Who for this amp: "We have a remedy/You'll appreciate!"
Thanks for the info,
David

Here's my take on it. I'm a huge fan of 6V6's. I've owned both the Z-28 and the Remedy since they came out; I've got a lot of hours on both. I've swapped tubes in the Z-28 more times than I can count just looking for the "ultimate" tone...I haven't touched the Remedy, which comes out of the box with "ultimate tone" Too busy playing. The Z-28 is a very Fendery sounding amp that morphs into a Marshally overdrive when cranked. It's got a bright cap that gives it that nice bright Fendery sound. The 6V6 sparkle is there and it's got that great tight bottom end Z is famous for. The Remedy ships with a quad of JJ 6V6's. I have tried those in three or four of my 6V6 equipped amps and quickly came to the conclusion that they're a very 6L6 sounding 6V6. They don't quite have the spank or sparkle of a "true" 6V6 like an RCA, Sylvania, or JAN. I put them in my Z28 and didn't like them at all in that amp; I prefer a "real" 6V6 in that amp. When you combine that with the awesome ultra-tight low end Z gave the Remedy, your first impression might not be "6V6's!". It's definitely got that "something" that 6V6's have but not quite in the way that a Deluxe Reverb or Princeton has- or the Z28. Just my take.

To my ears , the Remedy has a very EL34 flavor. I don't own one, but my good buddy let me give his a workout with my ES335 and it was amazing. Punchy as all heck , loads of sustain with a nice thick midrange that still managed a little edge. Just 2 my cents worth.

Cool. Thanks, folks!
I had a feeling your comments would be the case, especially after watching the demo video, but you can't get the feel of an amp from a clip, so I figured I'd ask.
Phil, glad you mentioned the Deluxe/Princeton 6V6 vibe. I have a silverface Princeton reverb that I love, and I was wondering how much of its bubbling/sparkling personality might be in the Remedy. I realize not much, but you made a very useful comparison.
britinvasion, the EL34 flavor makes sense, again, especially after the vid.
Thanks again, you guys. Very helpful.
