I tried out the Rx ES witha Savage 2x10 cabinet and it was amazing.
I bought the amp, and am using it with a closed back 2x12 cabinet.
I've got a home made 2x10 open back cabinet and recently re-wired it for 16 ohms, and paired the two cabinets up for an 8 ohm load, and it was nothing short of amazing. I shut off all overdrive pedals, and worked the guiter volumes/tone for the first time in my life.
I am saving to hopefully get a Dr. Z 2x10 cabinet.
I guess I was just wondering about speaker cabinets with the Rx Es?

I tried out the Rx ES witha Savage 2x10 cabinet and it was amazing. Yes it is. Congrats on scoring a helluva amp! I'm using a Z 1x12 cab loaded with an Emi Swamp Thang 150w, and have a Weber Alnico Blue Dog 50w on order. I took this rig to a tonefest 3 hours away last Saturday and it generated plenty of comments...good ones! IMHO the best Z I've owned so far...

Madison,
What style music do you typically play? I'm probably going to settle on a new RX ES soon and I'm leaning towards getting a 1x12 Z cab because of portability and a change of scenery, so to speak (used to using amps with 2x10 or 4x10). All this talk about speakers has got me more paranoid about my sound! I guess I've always been a plug and play kinda guy and have been happy with the speakers I end up with. Are the stock celestion speakers Z puts in suitable for roots-rock/alt-country? I'm also a blues player who loves to dig into SRV and clapton. Any input would help. Thanks! By the way, nice pics of your Zs!!

Hey , I just got my RXES today and hooked it up to 212 Red Fangs . Wow is it Loud ! Everything in the room shook at 3 Vol. The sound was incredable though . The lows just thundered through my room shakeing every thing that was'nt nailed down ! Tomarrow I'm gonna hook up my Celestion Blues to see what they sound like .

bnice,
Be careful with those Celestion Blues, as the RXES has the power to fry those blues as you move the volume knob towards the right.

teleking, I could have written the same post as you. Never messed with speakers until browsing all these guitar forums, which has been a fantastic resource...you just have to learn to pass the hype and go for the real deal. I play roots rock, blues, r&b, originals and country. The little Z 1x12 is huge sounding, no hype. I just bought a second one from dzghia to use either with the Z28, or for outdoor gigs run the ES to both. As you say, the portability and light weight is amazing...they just aren't that impressive sitting on a stage.
I've spent some hours fine tuning the new RxES. The alnico Weber Blue Dog is considerably quieter and a much better "fit" than the Emi ST. I can now get the volume over to around 2 or 3 oclock which allows the amp to breathe more, and also allows you to experience the thunderous bottom. Of all my OD pedals, the Visual Sound Rt 66 gives a Dumble smooth overdrive unlike I've had yet with a Z or any amp. I stuck a Fralin blues special in the bridge of the Tom Anderson, which is a hotter p/u and gives it up at a lower more controllable volume. Once you dial in all this, there is still the overdose, a VERY useful tool for solos or just for boosting and adding some sparkle to chords.
bnice, you may want to read Zac's post on Brad using and blowing out Cele Blue's. I'm sure BP has cranked the ES to do that sort of damage, but a 45w amp into two blues (30w) could end up in a bad way ;D

Madison:
What speaker do you have in your Dr Z 1x12? Thanks.

John, it's loaded with an Alnico Weber Blue Dog 50w. I've tried a Vintage 30, Emi Swamp Thang, and a Mesa Black Shadow...the Weber is the PERFECT speaker for the RxES IMHO, love it. ST is good too, but it's very loud and clean. I find I can drive the amp more with a lower db speaker. I'm thinking of a Silver for my second cab due in later this week, based on what I've heard and what Zac recommends for this amp...and he helped design it so he should know.
