So my oldest son just turned 2 years old last month, and he's always been fascinated by my guitars and what not ever since he could walk. I usually let him bang around on a little cheap nylon string acoustic I have lying around, but last night I was down in the basement getting ready to fire up my Mini Z when he comes walking down the stairs with a big grin on his face. The first thing he does is grab a pic off the table and runs over to me with a look on his face like "Hey dad, when you gonna let me play that thing." I couldn't help myself. I fingered a G chord and showed him where to "strum" the strings. Being an excited 2 year old, he WHACKS the stings and out spews a big growling G chord. The kid went nuts and could not stop laughing and smiling. This went on for another half hour with me holding different chords and him hitting the stings, each time with the same reaction. Just thought I would share this story as it looks like I've just created the youngest Z-natic yet. I've gotta post a picture of this next time he does it.

My boy is 2 also and we play together like that, too. Ain't life grand? Now, if only I had a Mini...

When my boy was young like that he did the same thing. Eventually, he strummed in a cadence and I barre chorded the ABC song for him. I used to play it with him in front of friends and family.

That's so cool. Being a dad has got to be the greatest thing in the world in my book.
