I saw BP on one of the AM TV shows last Friday with 3 amps, none Zs. He had a Vox, a Bruno and a Trainwreck....all red. There were 2 big Dr. Z cabs but that's it. What's up?

I think he is playing bruno a majority of the time along with his Dr. Z cabinet(s) with webber blues/silvers. Brunos are incredible souding amps, you should hear a couple. Different flavors for the new album maybe.

I've posted this up before, because in all the studio clips on his youtube they are also no Zs shown. I've heard from people on the board who have seen him live recentyl, that those three amps(Bruno, TWreck, and Vox) are his main amps, but he has been spotted using a remedy.

No worries; Brad's digging some other amps but still loves his Z's. I just saw him from the 5th row a couple of weeks ago and he had four Z cabs, with two Bruno heads, a Stangray and a Mazerati GT.

Just saw Brad last night again on Invitation Only Dish Network performance... he had two Brunos, a Trainwreck, and a Mazerati GT. He sounded and played phenomenally. He was really "on".

Guy's understand Brad loves innovation and fresh new tones. He tries his hardest not to duplicate tones or riffs from Cd to Cd.
He has integrated the Bruno's into his set-up because he likes how they blend with his Z's.
In the past Brad has always used other amps with his Z's. Victoria's, Fender Vibro-King, and Voxes just to name a few.
He layers together there tones for added dimension. His Trainwreck is an amp he has lusted for years and now owns one and uses it sparingly. The bruno's take the place of the Fender type amps in his mix, he still loves the real AC-30 tones, and still LOVES his Z's.
A complex artist that loves all the color tones in his palate. He enjoys producing a fresh sound each time out.

I'm not about to put down another amp maker, especially Bruno who's been making great amps for a long time. BUT.....if I was looking to blend in a Fender type amp with my Vox type amps it's the EZG-50 every time....just like that one I saw Gary Hooker sportin' backing Brad up Then again maybe the EZG would "dominate" the mix where the Brunos blend in better with the Voxes... the EZG is one **fat**sounding amp

Yeah I think brad would have to be insane just to up a leave Dr. Z amps just like that. I remember when I saw the John Mayer/Brad Paisley CMT Crossroads show, Brad's tone blew my freaking mind. It was insane, his tone was cutting, spanky and huge sounding. I think he used a carmen ghia for my favorite tone that night. He was doing a jazzy thing at the end with John. Crazy amazing tone.

When you're insanely rich and can have any amp you want, you'd be limiting your self to play only Dr Z. Dr Z is a great amp maker and I love my ray. Z's are a great boutique style amp made at a great price. But if I had Brads money there'd be other amps I'd be using to. Lately I've been playing my Victoria Victorilux at gigs, more than my ray. Mostly out of convenience as its a fairly light combo. It gives me something completely different and just as good in a different way.

Paisley used a Ghia on the Prarie Home Companion show a month or so ago. He sold me on Z tone right there. After soundcheck he checked out my Curtis Novak strat and plugged into the Ghia.... WOW!
Needless to say, I started hunting for a Z immediately!
He wasn't off the Z wagon THAT day! ;D

I saw that show as well, if you look in back of him there is at least one remedy, not sure who was using that....and I thought the MAZerati was on old style, not the GT.... I did see the trainwreck, can;t comment, never even laid eyes on one in real time...but and I am willing to bet, Paisley could take an old peavey bandit and have tone that would stun you. its in his hands, his style , his passion for it.... To remove all the Z;s from his line up would change his tone but, if you listen close he has a common tone thread that he gets all the time....he can;t help it, he is Brad Paisley and there is no other tone he can get but his. Its in his head, comes out his fingers thru his guitar and out his amps...just so happens that Z/s translate it really really well...

If Brad has pulled the Mazerati back out, then he's come full circle. Brad has a huge problem. He act on his GAS any time he wants to as he can afford to do so. If I have a ton of cash, I would have a bunch of stuff too. With that said, I will never use anything other than a Z. So I guess my GAS is limited to the entire Z line. ;D

Howdy,
I know very little about Brad Paisley, but my instincts tell me he'll come back to Dr. Z amps.

I saw Brad in St. Paul two nights ago and he had both Mazerati and Stangray heads that night anyway.

He used a Ghia and Vox head with Z 2x12 bottoms on the Ellen show. This wasn't that long ago.

^yeah haha he just puts other amps on stage as dummies so that if the Doc happens to see them he goes "AAAWWWHHHHUUTTTTT!" and then that inspires him to build better and better amps that become must haves for Brad and the rest of us

I think it's just human nature to get tired of one thing and try something else occasionally. Even if he never played thru Z's again, he's certainly inspired a LOT of other players to try and buy them. He inspired Zaite to invent an amp or two for him! Since he lost most of his stuff in the Nashville flood, he's probably got a few dozen other amp makers coming at him to try their amps too. I don't see him giving up on Z amps completely...the Z-Wreck is HIS sound!

He's still playing Z's in the rack. No worries. Haha. Rig rundown on youtube is a great place to see the greats rigs.

You can "sour" on any Amp...just play somthing else for a while and then it'll make you real happy you went back to your Dr. Z! Happens every time!

In his music video for "Old Alabama" he's seen playing his Z-Wreck at 2:35. Once you play a Z, you can never never ever be "off the wagon."
I've just started listening to his new record. It's some of the best sounding guitar tones I've ever heard. It's gotta be Z's. SO CLEAR!
I'm sure he's playing through his Bruno's and maybe his Trainwreck on a few of the songs. I'd like to learn more if anyone has info about what he played though. I'm sure there's an article about it somewhere in cyber space. If anyone finds anything, post it!
