If you were comparing it to say a SF Twin with MV, could you consider the EZG's "Post" equal to the Twin's Master Volume, and the EZG's "Pre" equal to the Twin's "Channel" volume?
Like with a MV Twin, if you want to stay clean, can you just dime the EZG's "Post" (Master?) and adjust volume with the "Pre"?
Would I be correct to say that as long as the Post is higher than the Pre you'll stay clean?
Thanks.

The Pre/post configuration on the EZG isn't really much like that of the master volume twins. the silver face twins will get that fuzzed out distortion when the channel volume is cranked and the master is way down. that is a tone that I personally don't care much for, but that is besides the point. The EZG will stay pretty clean most of the time. You have to have both the pre and post cranked up to start getting real drive out of it. It will be quite loud by then. The pre and post really have more affect on the feel of the amp and how the front end interacts with pedals.

So, if I just wanted to stay clean (forgive my heresy here, I'm old-ish) would I just crank the master and adjust the pre like a channel volume? Run this way, would it still have some chime and sparkle?
I'm not into pedals so that's not an issue.

The pre stays real clean until you get about 3/4 of the way up on the knob. This amp is a clean machine! It does have the sonic goodness that Doc's amps have which includes chime and sparkle. Btw...this amp smokes a silver faced mv twin IMO. I have tried both and the EZG has more uumph! Good luck to ya!

Does it have that "sounds good and full even at low volume" thing going for it like SFTR does? That's just my opinion of course, but I always like the Twin sound even at low volumes.

You bet! My buddy Keith (telebum) let me check out his SF MV twin for a couple of weeks. At low levels it sounded really good I agree. Same same with the EZG 50. Round full tone. I dig this amp!
