Hi everyone,
Came up with a challenge for everyone. I have posted two new videos on YouTube. Can tell which preamp tube is which? One video has the stock JJ ECC83 preamp tube and the other has a new Tung Sol 12AX7 tube. Please respond by saying "I think video A/B is the JJ/TungSol" tube.
The amp and guitar settings were the same for each video.
Here are the links to the videos.
Video A:
Video B:
I will post the answers in a week or so. Have fun!!

I don't hear a huge difference, maybe b is a bit fuller sounding, but it isn't exactly apples and oranges. Maybe it would be a bit easier to hear on an MP3.
Thanks for the cool idea, though. I sent you some Karma.

That's funny- I thought "a" was a bit fuller sounding, "b" more open. I haven't played a Tung-Sol yet, so I have no basis for a guess...)

My guess it A is the JJ. In any case, I think B sounded better - like ruger9 said, more "open" (i.e. you could hear individual note definition better).

I'm going to say that A is the JJ.

A=JJ, B=Tung Sol. I have both tubes and have done the same test in my Mini. I think the Tung Sol sounds a lot like the Sovtek LPS, maybe not as dark.

Gret job everyone! Video A had the JJ and video B had the Tung-Sol. So, when does our prize of a Mini Z arrive for getting it right? ;D
