I know quite a few of you have both the remedy and the maz jr. In comparing the two amps which one would you recommend If one had to choose one or the other? I really like my maz jr nr however I mainly use mine set up with the Marshall tone settings and use pedals as well for fuzz and overdrive delay..wah octave ect.... The remedy from the clips I hear sounds like, no pun intended Just What the Dr Ordered ;D at least for me that is.. I have a 50 watt mk11 Marshall Plexi and 425a cab. I had surgery and now that set up is just too big too lug around for me. I have been looking into the remedy with a 1/12 cab for that reason. My only concern is I play strats and I had my plexi modded with the bright caps clipped and a master volume. I get warm cleans and raunchy rock and roll crunch. I get the Hendrix tone easliy with this set up and that is what I like and I am after. Is the Remedy thin or bright sounding with strats? Is the distortion from the remedy thick and harmonic? How is the overdrive distortion compared to the maz jr? I would think that the remedy has a little more sustain then the maz is this true? Any advise would be greatly appreciated Thanks so much for your help.

I agree, and I do really like the Maz Jr...but, I LOVE the Remedy. You can really dial in YOUR tone. Not thin, not bright. I run a G1265 112 cab. Great with tele's, strats, and humbuckers. I run all stomps on the floor. This amp makes it sound like a overdrive channel than a pedal. Try one out...you won't be sorry.

I just got back from my first extended session with my Remedy and Strat. It is amazing, really amazing. I love my MAZ Jr, but the Remedy (through a Z Best here) blew me away. (It's making me think I might need new tubes in the MAZ, the sound was that much better.)
Course, now there's the JAZ 20/40 that sure looks like a MAZ / Remedy hybrid! Oh, man.
Cheers,
Mike

Yeah buddy, ... you wont be sorry my friend. The MAZ is a great and super versitile amp but no comparisons to the Mighty R. It sounds to me like it is exactly what your looking for. And yes it will do incredible Jimi, but also so much more as well, at pretty reasonable volumes, w/o a master volume!!! Tone baby, tone!

I have a Maz Jr NR as my main amp....but after playing the Remedy on Friday....I have to have one.
I'm 'cursed' in that my favorite guitar sound is that late 60's/early 70's Marshall with the 4x12 cabinet. But it's usually been the case that to get that sound....it would be deafening!!!
The Remedy doesn't have that EL84 'crang' that happens when you push an EL84 hard. That 'crang' isn't a bad thing...it's one of the things we love about EL84 amps. But it's not part of that old school Marshall tone. And I found the Remedy has such a clear crunch...very 'power tube' distortion based. Not nearly as much preamp drive...which to me, adds to the dynamics. The amp is also voiced with accented upper mids...like it should!
Soon, I will have one soon...

Hmmm. I've been wondering if I should sell my Maz 18 NR head to buy a Remedy.

Hmmm. I've been wondering if I should sell my Maz 18 NR head to buy a Remedy. I would try to keep them both If possible. I actually sold my 50 watt Marshall Plexi to get the Remedy and have no regrets once so ever. Still I would choose the Remedy over the Maz if it came down to it. I know I would probably regret selling the maz though it is such a cool versatile amp.

I can't see myself going forward without the Maz 18 OR the Remedy. I need them both.

I can't see myself going forward without the Maz 18 OR the Remedy. I need them both. Yup, if you can have two amps, MAZ + Remedy are a superb pair. Run them both into a cab with a Radial Headbone -- thanks, benttop -- and you have perhaps the greatest "channel switching" amp around.

The Remedy is incredible! It sounds way different than the MAZ Jr (Marshall crunchiness vs. Voxey clang).
I compared it to a 40 watt Germino Club 40 and it could hang with the Germino and cost $1000 bucks less. I will say if tone is what you are after get the Remedy. If keeping sound guys happy and preventing wives or girlfriends from hating you is important, use the Maz Jr.

They are too different sounds yet they each have their own killer tone.

I too have both amps, they are very different. Both are great amps. After listening to the Germino Club 40 clips online and playing my Remedy, they do seem similar.
