Tried the Remedy out tonight after just getting it and as soon as I fired it up there was a lot of noise. So, reseated the tubes to make sure they were tight. Still noisy...only worse! So, suspecting a faulty tube I tried swapping preamp tubes and all was the same. However, during the testing of the last preamp tube the fuse seems to have gone. I then pulled the power amp tubes and the plastic stem on the bottom of the tubes stayed in the socket...portions of glass and all I guess I found my bad tube! Question: How are the tubes paired on the Remedy? Normally when changing power tubes you'd change outside pairs (correct?). If the second tube from the left is bad (looking at the back of the amp)...what's its partner tube? Not sure if anything is set up different than normal with the 1/2 power setting etc. So much for trying out the Remedy Keith

Yeah, I've got some tubes coming express from The Tube Store, but just wondering if I replace a set is it the two outside tubes which are a set and the inside tubes, etc?

I know Brent has been E-Mailing you Keith, but for yours and all else's info.
The sets of 6V6's in the remedy are tubes 1 and 3 and tubes 2 and 4. so a set :
1 X 3 X or:
X 2 X 4 . ( X & X being a set )

( X & X being a set ) DR.Z Thanks DOC I actually found a set of GT 6V6S (duet) around town today to try the amp again (appears to be the exact same tube as the JJ-relabled). I have power to the amp again...but there's a lot of buzzing at idle and while playing. This is exactly the way it was last night before I lost a fuse I only have a duet of new GTs to play with ...and one of those turns out to be a dud! So, the buzzing could be another faulty tube that is in the mixed quad I have now If it's not a tube, what else could cause the loud buzzing...and I mean loud! Not the normal tube amp buzzing. Keith

Ahhh...turns out the GT 6V6 I thought was a dud was o/k ;D
So, a couple more swaps and voila!!! Found the culprit ;D ;D
Another of the original JJs was bad. So, noise level seems normal now and I'm letting the amp sit in standby for a while to acclimate!
I guess I'll noodle at low volume later.

and now? what's the scoop? please do tell 'bout yer new Remedy ;D cheers always, eh Joel I've only been able to play it al real low volumes at night so far....I'll plug in LP Studio this weekend But, I will say that the cleans and the 'on the edge' of breakup are nice! I find that the little I've toyed with using the rhythm pup on all guitars it sounds nice. I'll update soon. Keith

Keith and now? what's the scoop? please do tell 'bout yer new Remedy ;D cheers always, eh Joel Up until today I have been using the Remedy at low volumes with a Tele or Strat. I tossed a little delay on there and I kept playing 867-5309 Jenny ;D ;D Today, i wound it up a bit ;D After 2 minutes I already know what I want from my wife for Christams...can you say AIRBRAKE Even on the 1/2 power setting it has power galore and nice breakup. Even though the 1/2 power setting is not ear-bleeding, it has some kick ;D (Well, ok, its not ear-bleeding but its ear-bleeding's first cousin ;D). For me this amp is a challenge. It's one of those amps that if you can play well, you'll be rewarded. Right now, I'm living up to my name on the forum. With the Airbrake I'm sure this will be a great amp for me in the basement. I think this amp will lead me down the road to learning certain music that I wouldn't have pursued before. I'll post back when I has a little more experience taming this beast. Not being that familiar with playing plexi-type amps in the past, I'm amazed at the change in character from low volume (or volume knob turned down) to full-on power. It's like a wolf in sheep's clothing ;D Nice amp...even if I spend the next little while at reduced volumes with my Strat Keith

Keith......
did U ever get a Galaxie?....The Remedy, IMO.....is a 100 times ez'er than the Gal to dial in.
IF...you're a Marshall player (or not).
Juss axin'.........
Airbrake(Ur choice of attenuator) is a must.......FWIW.

I went with the Remedy. I have a hot plate...but it's 16 ohms and I'd need 8 to run with my Z-Best. So, I'll take your advice T-Rock and certainly invest in a Brake...maybe sooner rather than later Keith

Next time no one's home, try plugging in an LP or Es335 and run it at full power. Wear a seat belt and safety goggles.
