Just wondering if it is okay to switch between the different attenuation levels while the amp is on, or is it best to turn the amp off first. Didn't know if there was a loss of load during the process of "switching"

it would be best to switch of the standby.

I do it all the time. I'm not playing when I do it though. Me too. Have done this both at gigs and at home. I haven't heard any pops or other noises. Still, if you want to be extra safe, you could use the standby as suggested.
