I was in a real conundrum because I had originally planned to bring my A/B/Y and both the Mazerati and the Flexi-50, but no matter what I did, I found that my pedal board was sucking up some tone, so I decided to haul the Mazerati out and bring the Flexi for a backup only. So I ended up with guitar plugged directly in to the Mazerati - it worked GREAT!
One thing I noticed that I have not really detected with the Flexi is that the Mazerati really exagerates the difference between my Grosh Strat and my Grosh Tele. In fact, on the Flexi I think I like the Strat better, but on the Mazerati, the Tele rules! Fascinating.
I ran the Mazerati into my Z Airbrake all night. I had the volume at about 3 o'clock, tone at about 11 o'clock and the Airbrake on about -4 db (two clicks down from thru). That is a very strong power amp!
Playing again tonight - I think I'll do the same thing. Eventually I would like to use both amps - they bring such a different feel and sound to the stage - but it appears I will have to build my own A/B box since the ones I have here all seem to color the tone somehow. Maybe not - maybe something else on my board is doing that - more fiddling required I guess. But for now the Mazerati definitely holds its own and more!

check out StarTouch A/ B boxes Tony build the best Hey, Dave- You using an a/b/y with the 38 and Ghia? I recall a post earlier where you said the sound man b*tched at you when you tried to use both amps... But just curious if you've been able to use both amps at a gig since then. I'm trying to figure out practical options to do the same thing with my 18 & 38, but I might just be too lazy to bring both to a gig! LOL Sorry to hijack your thread, benttop! (But I guess it sort of applies....) JC

I discovered that the Boss DD-20 was the tone suck. Shoot - I really wanted to use that thing, but it is not going to fly.
But that means the good news is my Radial JX-2 works fine, and Saturday night I got to experience that annoyed look on the sound man's face when I explained that I'm using two amps. Too bad, so sad, it's my show pal.
Saturday I set the Mazerati a lot cleaner and used the Flexi for the dirt, and that worked SO well. I can't wait to get the Weber Blue Dogs - I'm thinking that is going to be just about perfect for what I'm trying to achieve.

I may use the a/ b at some festivals to play slide and lap steel with Ghia and reg guitar through Maz 38
