I have a Peavey Classic 4x10 cab that I would like to use with the Maz on occasion. It's wired for either 16 or 8 ohms. Do I use it at 8ohms with a Y cable plugged into the Maz's 8 ohm output jack? Or do two 8 ohm cabs make a 16 ohm load? This is a gap in my audio knowledge, I guess. Thanks in advance for your help.

Bill, Assuming your talking about using your internal Maz speaker, in conjunction with the 4x10... and the speaker/ speakers in your Maz ( combo?) is 8 ohm... ( and it doesn't really matter as long as the combo/ or external cab your using with the Maz is 8 ohm total) Then you would use a PARALLEL Y cable out of the 4 ohm tap on the back of your Maz SR amp, and connect one side of the Y cable to the Maz's 8ohm internal speaker cable ( or 8 ohm cab ext cab) and the other side of the Y cable to the 4x10 's 8 ohm wired jack/ input. This will make both cabs 4 ohm's in parallel. Now , two 8 ohm speakers wired in SERIES IS 16 ohm... so if your Y cable is a SERIES cable... then you would still use BOTH cabs 8 ohms ( notice that your 4x10 would still be using the 8ohm jack/ input) but you would then come out of the 16 ohm tap on the back of your Maz Sr amp... this will make both cabs 16 ohm's in series. PCNS makes a great Y cable and makes them in both parallel and series wired versions... hope this makes sense... and helps, Jason
