I've been searching the site and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I could have sworn I saw it somewhere but now can't find it. I thought I read some talk on the effects of different tubes. For example the effects of changing the rectifier tube. What are the effects of changing to a different tube and what tube is recomended. I was reading a bit on thetubestore.com which happens to be located in the town I work in. They have the mullard tubes. Is the Mullard NOS a good recomendation for the Maz 38 Senior?

Check the Tubes category, ask Myles or Chat in Ask the Experts, or Guitaramp Blueprinting.

I have changed mine to a NOS phillips/mullard. best bang for the buck mod going. Difference you can really hear, not something you have to talk yourself into hearing. The amp comes alive, a thing you must hear... I recorded mine pre and post, the difference is obvious right away. I also did one on my 28 with the same if not better results. I don;t know what the main difference is electronicly and frankly I am not overly interested to find out, all I know is it sounds better than it did before. When you see what it does for the amp the price makes a whole lot more sense. I am looking for a couple of backups at a reasonable price myself.

Forgive my ignorance but your talking about the rectifier tube, right? If so did you leave your other tubes stock? Also when you say NOS Phillips/Mullard, is that the brand or do you mean either a phillips or a Mullard?

I emailed the tubestore about some questions I had as I wasn't sure what you meant by NOS Phillips/Mullard and this was their response: What they mean, if they know it or not, is any GZ34 made in Great Britian. They were often labeled with different brand names, but the construction was always the same if made by Philips/Mullard. Unfortunately these tubes are next to impossible to find. We have not had any for a long time now. I can make a note to email you if we find any but I don't have any leads at this time. Frankly, I would spend my money on upgrade the audio tubes before spending a load on the GZ34. [/i] If an NOS Phillips/Mullard is so scarce where did you get yours? According to the tubestore it seems that changing the audio tubes makes more of a difference than the rectifier. And lastly what are the audio tubes?
