Is it socially unacceptable to hug you Z amp? I swear to God, I played for about 2 hours tonight with the 1x12 MAZ 38SR with reverb. I just put a Celestion Gold in it over the weekend, and this was the first opportunity to really play the "daylights" out of it since the switch. Furthermore, I have put in a fresh set of matched quads in it (Groove Tubes rated 4). Actually, all of the tubes have been replaced. It's sounding so good, that I physically want to hug the d**n thing! It's got more mojo than I know what to do with. I feel blessed to own it.

I've been thinking about puttin' a gold in my maz 38sr too. On a scale of 1 to 10 how big an improvement is it over the stock celestion?

I'm telling you, it's a night and day difference. I was really worried about spending that much money on a speaker....but it turns out to be money well spent. I bought this amp about a year ago off of ebay. I had no idea how long the tubes had been in it or what the amp had been through. It was in great shape and sounded great so I didn't do any work to it....I just started gigging with it every Friday and Saturday for the last year. After becoming hooked on this forum, and reading about how everyone seemed to love the Gold, I started feeling guilty. I thought, "I've got this great amp, and I'm not caring for it like I should!" So, I bought a nice road case, a whole new set of tubes, and the Gold speaker. After the overhaul, It went from a great amp, to an unbelieveable tone machine. I'm so happy....it's like I won the lottery. Trust me, you'll be happy about the swap
