Who else has made this step?
Don't get me wrong, I love the JR, I just want a little more headroom at higher volumes. I thought about getting something with a different flavor all together but I really love the broad spectrum of tones I get with my JR. It's an easy swap for me too since I have a head and cab setup (with a 30w blue dog and 30w silverbell) already.
I guess I'm just wondering if the SR and JR are really close tonewise. I know the tone circuits are basically identical (correct me if I'm wrong). So is the only real difference overall volume and more headroom at higher volumes?
I wish I could keep both but that's not an option....
Thanks in advance for your input.
Mitch

Thats what I'm in the process of doing right now. I still have a 2x10 Jr. with verb and sold another 2x10 Jr. NR to fund a Senior 2x10 for the same reasons you say. More headroom and ooomph . I just got an Air Brake so I think it was a win/win situation for me. cheycaster

I thinks its a good move...even my Sr has trouble staying clean with my 175 when my volume is up on the guitar. Granted its a big box with heavy strings on it, but still....I find even the SR only gets so clean...

I think Z's site states it best: www.drzamps.com/maz38.htmlIt's a bigger, cleaner (early), clearer, tone with more low-end. Crank it up and it remains VERY tight while more aggressive. My favorite Amplifier! Mark

I'm contemplating adding a Jr or Sr to the stable (I've have or had Ghiz, Z28 and 6545). Sounds like the Sr is the way to go. Anything the Jr can do the Sr can't and vice versa?

After owning both.......
The SR is very very loud!!!! especially the NR model.
Not a bad thing, but, you'd want an airbrake in most small club settings.
Be nice to own both! ;D

The NR version of the Senior is slightly different from the reverb version- it features a split load bias scheme like the RxES which gives it an even better bass response and makes it slightly louder. I've got the SR NR and the JR NR and love them both immensely. I'd be hard pressed to choose only one. The Jr has a gainier, spankier feel due to the two output tubes- you can crank it a little more, and you don't get the harmonic "thickness" of a four output tube amp. The senior is a more "sophisticated" amp; even when it breaks up it's a little smoother than the Jr. I think the Sr NR through two 12's will give any Fender Twin a run for it's money. Running the two amps simultaneously is ;D ;D ;D

The MAZ Jr. and Sr. NR models have become my go to rigs lately. I run my Jr. with a single Blue and the Sr. with a 2x12 loaded with Golds and couldn't be happier with the tone I'm getting. I've played or owned just about every model Z amp out there, and now I see why the MAZ amps are the flagship models.

Yeah, when the time comes to trade up, I'll definately be gettin the NR version. My JR is an NR version. I just didn't see a need for it. I thought I'd miss a reverb but really, it doesn't need one. I did buy a holy grail for those few times I might want just a little. It stays off most of the time though....

Well, I went down to my dealer today and came home with my Jr. The difference was just a little more than I could afford. They suggested selling it myself, but I don't know if I want to go through all of the hassle that comes along with it. I would just rather take a hit and pay for convenience but it was still a bit outta my reach. Oh well, maybe after my income tax check arrives...... :-) Thanks for all the replies guys. My Z bretheren are all ways a big help.

See, I'm always thinking of ya.. ;-)

Hmm, thats a good idea. The only problem is I'd have to save for a looooong time and being the ever so paitient person I am. I don't know if I could wait that long. Maybe a RXES, RXJR, Galaxy, Route66, Stangray would be a good compliment too. Hmm maybe the Stang' would get me that clean headroom. Ya got me thinkin Paul, possibilities.... Now, the wife may have a problem with it though. Ah, there's always a catch. Maybe I could find a good hiding place.... :-)

Now, the wife may have a problem with it though. Ah, there's always a catch. Your right, she might have a problem when you switch channels and it's way loud. In that case, add two Air Brakes (one for the Sr, one for the jr.) when you order the SR. :-)

You oughtta be a salesman Paul. You keep making it sound more and more appealing. The only problem is funds..... How much do they give you when you donate plasma? Or sperm maybe, I've got a 2 1/2 mo old son so thats proves I'm fertile... :-) Whatever it takes I guess cuz I don't have any gear I'm willing to part with right now.... Let's see, I wonder when the Red Cross opens..... :-) Cheers man, thanks for all the input ( expensive I might add, but sensible)... Later
