This is my second Dr. Z, the other being a Maz Jr. 2x10 NR in surf green.
I've spent a couple of days with the Remedy, and it rocks. The half power switch is pretty amazing, as it really seems to maintain the tonal excellence at half power.
I've got a bunch of old 45 watt plexi's, and the Remedy is in the ballpark. It's growl is not precisely the "Marshall Plexi" growl, but it's in that neighboorhood.
I'm just getting to know the amp, but I really dig the one imput/two channel setup. By dialing in the amount of the "high" channel and the "normal" channel (lower freq response) you can really dial in the tone you're after, and make it match your guitar and your speaker cab.
I've played it thru a Marshall 4x12 in which I have Celestion G12m's and G12H's Heratige series, and it sounds great.
This amp is percussive, chimey clean, and pleasingly growly.....all wraped up in one head.
I will be playing it thru an old Marshall 4x12 with creambacks, as well as a Rivera 4x10 with Vin. 30's, and will report back.
My 16 yo who is a fantastic classic rock blues guitarists, and who has a great ear, told me tonight that the Remedy has the best tone of any of the new amps I have, and I have pretty wide selection of new and old amps here.
The other thing that strikes me about Dr. Z amps, and the Remedy in particular, is that they don't get in the way. They are simple machines, that get the tone of you and your guitar out into the air without interference. You turn them on, plug in, and minimal tweaking is needed. You just sound good!!
