OK everyone, I'm itching to add another Z amp to the collection and I've got a question about the MAZ Sr. I play alot of country and old school classic rock, so I like that nice and articulate sound with plenty of clarity even when cranking at high volumes. I use alot of clean, but with a little hair around the edges. My #1 amp right now is the RxES. I love it's chime and smooth overdrive when pushed hard. It's really the most unique sounding amp I've ever heard. Now, I'm looking for something to add that can do some of the AC30 sounds, but still have it's own thing going. I also have a StangRay, and it nails a pure Vox tone. I guess what I'm after is a little more of the top boost AC30 tone that's a little fuller in the lows and still give a good slightly dirty sound. Would the MAZ Sr. do the trick? Would you recommend the reverb or non-reverb for this? Thanks

38NR, it will chime like the bells of Westminster if you want it to, with as much grit as you dial in...I changed speaker to a Tonker for the added clean and that works very well. Did change the rectifier to a Mullard but thats it....for me, it is the right combination, YMMV depending on what you decide to do... The short answer to your question is : The MAZ38 can cover it....and lots more..

I have a 66 tb ac30 and a maz38. I think you could probably get real close with the maz. I will have to compare the two with that in mind sometime.

Thanks bluesbum. If you do that comparison, please let me know how it turns out.
