I ordered my RXJR head should be hear today.. I didn't buy a cab yet because I am confused by the posts. Some guys say the 1x12 Blue and than someone else says no the blue in 1x12 is for the ghia..and everyone agrees..The sales guy is telling me the 2x10 or 4x10.. Cost isn't an issue I have saved enough to by a Zbest 4x10 or anything that's less.. My biggest arena to play is going to be a 30 X30 POLE BARN that is on my property..Maybe 6 times a year when we have a be campfire party. But otherwise I will be playing in my house. So I know you guys have played this JR though a blue setup..But has anyone actually played a RXJR Through a DR Z 2x10 or 4X10 or Z best or a stand alone Vintage 30 I'd really appreciate replys..so I can get a cab..No sense having the amp without a cab to play it through.. Also have one of those new VOX Night trains coming when available.. Help Thanks

I think the different opinions tell you what you need to know - there is no right answer. It is a personal preference. I would say go with your gut and if you don't like the speaker, just change it. Especially if you start with a less expensive one, like a Greenback (Doc's suggestion for a 1x12 with the Rx Jr). So, say you get a 1x12 cab with a Greenback and if you don't like it or want a more efficient speaker, try something else in it.
As benttop has stated before, the Rx Jr isn't so picky about speakers. You might change the EQ a little, but I haven't put it through a speaker cab I didn't like, yet (including Greenback, V30 - which sound great together IMHO, Texas Heat, etc.).

Kruzty made some great points. 1x12 and change the speaker if you don't like it.
Personally for Rock and Blues I really like the 2x10. For harder Rock the Z-Best. For more Country 1x12 with a Blue or Gold or GreenBack. It's a great amp with many personalities that will cover the bases for you. Personally I liked the Gold more than the Blue, but I'm not a country picker.
Do you use a Rick? With flat wounds?
Get one that matches!
Good Luck!

Krusty that's what I am decided to do..They don't have a Greenback in stock..Just a V30..the greenback is the h correct???
So I am leaning the way of taking this salesman advice..He's telling me he plays a jr through 2x10's and loves it.. guess I'll take his advice since they have everything in stock except a greenback 1x12 I don't see why he'd push me to a 499.00 cab when I have offered to by the 688.00 cab..
Ot I good get the v30 1x12 and than have the versatility of swapping speakers if I chose to.. Not that I can't with 2 x10 but less variety

How long does it take to get a cab?? I could buy both the blue and the Green back ..Just order one..Not much sense in buying a cab with a v30 in it if doc recommends the h30..

The greenback is the G12M - the G12H30 is a different speaker. Will your dealer let you buy one and exchange it for another if you don't like it? If so, try the 10's and if you don't like it, exchange for the V30 or order another 12 of your liking. But if he has multiple cabs in stock, why don't you just try a few at the dealer?

Kruzty I would try the cabs out in person..Problem is I can't play ..JK Seriously the reason I don't go try something is I live in Michigan..The 2 dealers that are here are number ! 150 miles away..Number 2 don't stock a thing..Nothing!!!! Nada..Michigan retailers I think are hurting big time.. I bought this stuff through an online dealer..I went with an outfit called Humbucker..They told me If I don't like what I buy I can return in 30 days..Well I know I'll like the amp..tried a few RXES but not thru any z cabs.. As for the speakers/ They said if I don't care for the speaker I can return just the speaker and they will swap it for what I want..provided it's not mint still.. What I decided to do was buy the C-Blue 1x12..and More than likely going to by a Ghia or something in another couple of month's..As I mentioned I have saved enough money that I have about 1000.00 surplus..Although my plans for that are my crook tele.. I have actually thought about getting rid of my Rickenbacker 350V63-for some z cash. It's a nice guitar but it's such a totally and tonally different animal that it's uses are mostly old beatles tunes..The 350 is hard to get so if I sell it I am sure I will get a decent dollar for it.. Just hate getting rid of guitars.. So BY TUESDAY NEXT WEEK I WILL BE THE OWNER OF A RXJR WITH A 1X12 CEL-BLUE..IN DARK HOT PINK..AWESOME, CAN'T WAIT..THANKS EVERYONE FOR TAKING A MOMENT TO ANSWER A FORUM NEWBIES QUESTIONS.. I'LL POST WHEN IT ARRIVES: Than it's goodbye for awhile. Rather have sore fingers from playing than typing.. .. PS BLUESMAN: To answer your question I use Rickenbackers Flatwounds on mine . 12's actually ..the 10's were to flimsy..pretty hard to bend- but than it's not a guitar you do alot of bends on. Was considering doing my own flatwound hi-bred setup 12's and 10's .. AGAIN THANK YA YU"ALL

I think you did the right thing and don't go thinking for one single min. that the Blue will not full on rock out.
With a little work you will nail this tone.
The green sound is worth having around but if Ihad to have one over the other. [glow=blue,2,300]BLUE[/glow] any day.

Don't sell that Rick until you hear it through the RXJr and the C-Blue. I have a 360-12 and it is stunning through this combination. BTW, give that Blue some time to break in. It will get smoother and the the top end will get much sweeter. Congrats on the new rig! ;D
