Hello all. I'm kinda freaking out here. I have been blowing fuses in my Maz Sr head. The other night I blew the 3/4 amp fuse and tonight the 3 amp fuse. To replace them what do I buy? Slo-Blow or...
Please help me get my amp back online here.

Hey Bill, have you replaced the rectifier tube? That usually causes fuse blows.

Nope. Should I? I know nothing about these things. Another thing is that this Maz has 3/4 and 3 amp fuses and my other Maz has 1/2 and 2 amp fuses. What's up with that? Do I replace the 3/4 with a slo blo and the 3 amp with a regular?
Thanks for the reply BTW. I appreciate it a lot

Yes, you should probably drop in a new rectifier. That's the cause of the fuse popping a majority of the time.

Do what the other say and replace the rectifier.I had mine go 1hr before my out of town gig.I had to talk a local mom and pop music store out of one. They had to remove it from new amp.I made it back with only 2 minute to spare.Talk about being a nervous wreck LOL

How long will a rectifier tube live of course depending on playing hours - I guess it last much longer than the EL 84 tubes?

A good rectifier tube (read NOS) should last for many years.
I checked the MAZ 38 we have here at the store. The 1/2 amp is a SLO-BLO, and the 3 amp is a fast blo.
Generally if the fuse has a thicker filament and a "T" or "MDL" before the amp rating, it's a SLO-BLO

Slow-blow fuses also have a braided-like strand instead of a straight, thin wire.

A quick question regarding the two fuses on the Maz 38 nr . In the U.K I can only find a 3.15 amp quick blow fuse ,would this be suitable or does it have to be a 3 amp,and the 1/2 amp fuse is a slow blow is this correct?

Bill there was a thread going around that Lefty/Dr. started about keeping track of folks that were blowing fuses. The fix was to replace the rectifier... The GC in your area should carry the one for your Maz 38... GT even makes a solid state rec that BW uses... might change the tone a tad... I heard it takes some of the rich compression of the amp away... but at least it will never go.
But yeah, it's your rec tube going... Change that out and you'll be all set.
