Thanks to everybody for their help; after poking around on the forums, talking to Brent at Dr. Z, talking to a number of stores, talking to my dealer, and finally to the good Dr. himself I decided that on pure tone it's the NR. I'll add reverb in a loop if needed.
Great forums; pick up my amp tomorrow: YEAH!!!

you may well find that you don;t need it, takes a little getting used to after playing for years with a reverb amp but ...well....listen for yourself

I never used much more than a smidge. The amp is so rich you don't want to muck it up with anything.

I think the the lack of verb, or any "sweetener", can help your playing.
I used a smidge of delay & verb for years, until the night my Alesis Quadraverb blew up. A humbling experience, to be sure.
But, after a few gigs, I decided that I actually preferred to play dry, & use the reverb & delay like what they were - effects.
YMMV.
