Per the Maz 38 Sr page on Dr Z site (http://www.drzamps.com/maz38.html)
"After a successful eight year production run, we have upgraded and enhanced the classic tone of the MAZ-38. "
I'm looking at a possible trade for a 2003 Maz 38 Sr. 2x12.
My questions (thanks in advance for the help):
-What was the first year of the 'upgraded and enhanced' model? -Have you A/B'd the old vs the new; are the changes significant enough that I should forget the trade and think new (or at least newer)?
Thanks again

Look for a "Cut" control rather than a "Presence" control.
That should get you the latest MAZ Sr. circuit.
Differences: don't know, these things are rare as hen's teeth in this neck of the woods. My MAZ (with cut) is absolutely perfect. I'm guessing the older version is pretty fine too, but I can't say for sure.

I have a newer version and I luvs it. The cut is the key to happiness! However the best thing to do is get a head and Z-best cab. I have a combo and its great but if I could do it over that would be my choice.

My older style Maz 38 "Studio Deluxe" sounds great, too. I've never even played a Maz Sr, but have a hard time imagining how it coud sound even better.
