Went through the Maz initiation of dead amp, burnt fuses, new fuses, watching sparking rectifier tube blowing fuses, replacing rectifier with original GE GZ34 from '64 Tremolux that amp tech declared "still good," and voila - the sound I've been waiting for. The tone I've heard everyone else get in those Z sound clips from the Maz Sr! ;D Now I know why this gently used Maz SR. head was underwhelming when I first got it a week ago: it desperately needed a new rectifier. Thank you Dr. Z and all the experts on the "Ask the Experts" thread, "Blown Fuses and Bad Rectifiers," for getting this info out there. I'm one happy, new Z-owning, happy camper!

It sucks a part from a 3rd party manufacturer...a tube...has caused so many woes in recent history w/the Z's.
Glad, though, it's such an easy fix!

...and quit posting and get to twisting knobs! It's more like, "quit posting and get to work!" (Work = how you pay for all this stuff.) Anyway, you're the one who said you'd hope to see me on this board. I guess you're sorry you said it...
