Chris, I have a friend in Nashville that ran his Maz SR dimed all day everyday and used the MiniMass for studio and live shows and it never even so much as blinked. They're solid. Dan My hesitation in buying a MiniMass is that I don't want to run the amp dimed a lot. Isn't that bad for the amp (my MAZ Sr. head gets really hot from normal play)?Nope. May eat tubes a bit faster, but that's it. EL84 amps just run hot. Side effect of the design. Definitely not a concern w/the open chassis design on the Z's.

I guess I have different ears. I've played my Maz 38 at very low volumes in my dining room. If I turn the cut and treble very lower, boost the front with a compressor, volume dimed, master barely on, it sounds just like Fresh Cream to me. Well almost but close enough that I always have to play Politician, I'm So Glad, Toad and Crossroads. Different strokes......... My Maz is home in the dining room, too, billyguitar; it's the amp that eats like a meal! I dial in those settings as well, although my treble hangs at noon, I attenuate 2 clicks on my Z-Brake, and dinner is served! For the best bedroom tone with a Maz Sr., I recommend sitting on the side of the bed and plugging your favorite guitar into a wireless system. That way, you can leave your Maz cranked in the dining room-- it'll sound GREAT! ;D

In fact I heard the forum admin. was going to institute an anti-goofiness filter. I totally understand this because I thought you were a strange old man who had never left his basement, or 37 Dr. Z amps, in 30 years.

So just so it seems like this thread hasn't been hijacked, or bushwacked..........I think I found a sweet spot on the controls of my BB Preamp to get a nice "basement-when-the-family-is-upstairs-volume" tone. But I'm playing it through my Peavey Classic 30. The MAZ is my "secret" amp. Hmmmmm, that might be a good thread, "Do you have a secret amp (one that your wife doesn't know about yet)?"
