Hi there! This is my first post on these forums, but I've been reading up for quite a while now. I'll get stuck straight in though... I recently tried out a Maz 38 with reverb - the sound was phenomenal, but had a shade less gain than I'm really after. I'm looking ideally for something between a cranked AC30 / JTM45 / JCM800 - with the same dynamic response to volume change and attack that the Maz 38 Reverb has - I've been reading through the forums a lot and I'm getting the impression that my best plan to cover these tones would be the 38 NR with an OCD in the front end to push it into the 800 territory? My plan would be to run the Maz 38 into a 4x10 quite cranked up on the volume and master for the AC30/JTM45 side of things - use my guitar volume to back off into slightly over driven bluesy cleans a lá Robben Ford, use the OCD to shunt it towards the JCM800 ballpark - and possibly A/B to my Twin Rev for crystal cleans (IF i still have a use for it once i have the Z!) The main guitars i use are a '66 tele with a SD antiquity HB in the neck, a '72 Les Paul Deluxe with stock mini hums and occasionally a Reverend Slingshot with stock P90's. Any input would be fantastic! I suppose I just want to make sure that I'll be able achieve what I'm hoping for. Obviously I prefer the Z's voicing to any of the amps I've mentioned! They're just to give you a rough idea of what I'm aiming at! Thanks for the help!

Hey John
Silly as it sounds, apart from ocaissionally using a TS9, i've never really explored any overdrive pedals - so i'm looking forward to it! ; )
See you Saturday!

Not a problem, a TS9 is a good start so we'll just take it from there!!!

Try a Keeley modded Blues Driver, SD-1, TS-9 or his modded DS-1. You will probably buy all four from Keeley. His mods are truely amazing. My Maz 38 Sr (R) loves all four.
