I was in a shop demoing some guitars yesterday and was plugged into a MAZ 38 Sr. Head and 2x12 ZBest. It really made me miss my old 38! I had one and sold it to get an RXES. The RXES ws Great but less controllable, IMHO, than the Maz 38. The master on the 38 works great as you all know and that is what I missed. Plus I had forgotten just how sweet these babies sound!

The MAZ 38, without a doubt, is my favorite.

The MAZ is so versatile and just plain fun to play through. You can add others but don't give up the MAZ, you'll just regret it later.

Let me first start by saying I love my Galaxie. That said, my Maz kicks arse - serious arse. I have recently spoken to a gentleman that I am making a deal with this weekend. Yes, unfortunately I am parting with my Route 66. I never use it and I would prefer to have it be enjoyed than sit here and not get any play. Anyway... he suggested a setting on the Maz and let me tell ya, it has changed my guitar playing incredibly. The amp sounds so awesome that I seriously have a hard time walking away from it. It's that great. Since my Galaxie arrived, it has been the only amp used. Since I discovered this new Maz setting, it's the only amp being used. I love both the amps but I am going to have to say the Maz is King lately.

dime the master, use the volume to set overall and fool around with the tone stack to taste. It makes the bass bloom and the amp just sound completely different. I like it anyway. I was told to try it and my MAZ hasn't been changed since.

That's exactly how I run mine - low input, master dimed + airbrake.

Jason, I have another one (MazSr head) heading my way. I traded for the Gal. with another forum member. The Gal just wasn't doing it for me and I love my Maz (even more after our discussions) so I figured - why not two (??!!) It will be nice to have the two. I can use one here and then for occasions where I need more, I'll have the second to go stereo with. I'm stoked that you are enjoying the 66. Great amp isn't it.?! i'll grab another if I ever get back to gigging again. Take care, enjoy and stay in touch. Tell Anne "Hello" from me and I'll see yas soon I hope. Bill (bilbal)

That's great Bill, but I am sorry that the Galaxy didn't work out. It's just a very different amp than the Maz Sr. I've often thought about getting a second as a back up. The Sr is turning into my all time favorite amp. I even feel that at times my Carr Slant 6V is having a hard time keeping up with it! I'll give ya a shout next time we're up. Let me know what happens with the new Maz!!!!!

I buy gear with the intention of not having buyers remorse (so sometimes I buy the expensive one), then I never sell anything.
