I purchased a new Blonde MAZ 38 NR recently and looking for a reverb to run through the effects loop. My question is , has anyone tried the Rocktron Cyborg Reverb Pedal. I was looking at the EH Holiest Grail but came across the Rocktron which seems to do more for 100.00 less built around a Motorola DSP and a HUSH control and cannot find any reviews. Any input is greatly apreciated. BTW this is my 1st Dr Z. Everything I have read here seems to be coming form some very knowlegable people. I respect all comments.
Thanks

Try this thread..........The unit mentioned last seems to be a winner. drzamplifiers.proboards41.com/index.cgi?board=fx&action=display&thread=1133328497IMO you should stay away from the holy grail......Some guys have success with it, though, mine developed an annoying hum after 3 months. I use a trex roommate with my maz 38 NR and I cannot tell the difference between that and any onboard fender reverb unit..........a little pricey, but, much cheaper to purchase 3 amp heads and one pedal than 3 amps with reverb built in. Good luck and congrats on the SR..........a super fine choice! Head ? Combo? What speaker? BTW, you might be surprised, but I prefer the verb right up front vs using the efx loop...... Cheers, James ;D

Thanks for the reply! I'll definitely try both the effects loop and through the chain. Oh, and my SR is 1x12 Blonde with Tan Grill combo with Celestion Gold and no reverb as mentioned. I really wanted a reverb and the DR Z reverb is great! BUT IMHO in a side by side test with the reverb against the NR the tone on the NR was richer and thicker with more drive. This is just my opinion. I'm a new guy here and don't want to tick anyone off. I just thought wow if I can get that tone and add a really great reverb unit, that would be my ticket.

Hey BD, Blonde and Tan.........mmmh, mighty sharp color scheme ..........Add yourself a z-best in the same color and you'll be able to play ANYWHERE! First of all, we are glad to have any "new guy" here and the awesome thing about this forum is we all really respect each other's "ears" and what all of our own individual tastes might be. So.....never worry, it's what makes you happy and no one here has anything but respect for a dude ( or THE lady who searches for the tone that is "in their head". My thoughts exactly regarding the reverb issue. I decided I could supplement the SR (and JR that is in the Z womb as we speak ) with a reverb and have the best of both worlds. My guess for many players is that they like the convenience of having the reverb on board.........and, there is probably some truth in the fact that the Z-verb might be sweeter to some ears....... It's all good. Tell us how you feel about the C-Gold!

How do I describe the Celestion Gold without sounding like a Madman? To start, the amp came with the standard speaker G12 30H. The Gold came soon after. First thing I noticed was, man this speaker is loud! Probably due to the 100db sensetivity. It has the Lows I like and the typical warmth of the mids the Celestion Blue is famous for and shimmering highs and very very harmonic. This and still not yet broken in completly. The best is yet to come! It's like the melding of the G1230H and Vintage 30 only more smooth and harmonic. It's probably the finest sounding speaker I've ever heard. This speaker was made for this amp! Next, sort our my reverb delima and I'm done. ( I'm lying I'll NEVER be done. Is anyone?)

I own a T-Rex Replica. If the Roomate s anywhere near as nice as the Replica then it is worth the money

Van Amps Sole Mate is a great sounding spring reverb, small too.

A great budgetsolution, though I'm sure the T-Rex is topnotch, is Digitech's Digiverb. I had a Holy grail earlier and I sold it in favor of the Digiverb. I've got a blonde MAZ38NR-head coming my way next week and I will try the Digiverb with it. I've used it with a Bassman 59 and a Koch Pedaltone with good results earlier.
One thing though, regardless of which reverbpedal I really like to have the reverb in parallell to the dry guitarsignal so I'm thinking of adding an Xotic X-blender.

I have the Digiverb and it sucks tone pretty badly. The controls also seem very, very sensitive to the point where it's difficult to make subtle changes. It's okay, probably as okay as the rest of the reverb pedals out there.

Van amps soul mate is nice, and I have the EBS Dynaverb. Keep in mind that the EFX Loop on the Maz is only there out of convenience and is not active. Anything plugged in to that loop will result in the loss of signal.

I am... 1) new (just purchased JChance's Maz 38) 2) first time Z-owner (actually awaiting it's arrival today I hope) 3) will be getting a reverb pedal.. ...so looking forward to hearing what works for others. This question may be stupid or otherwise absurd, but why doesn't the good Dr. make a remote reverb pedal/unit for those who want it separate from the amp? I hear nothing but good about the Z reverb and would likely be a sought-after product. I see other amp companies offering various boutique pedals and wondered if a remote reverb unbit has ever been considered by Dr. Z? I would buy one in a heartbeat! Reverb and Tremelo Unit. Ummmmmmmm Nice! Bill

+1 on the T-Rex Roomate. The great thing about this pedal other than it's fantastic and quiet sound is that it has a level knob where you can add a touch to get back what you've lost by using the loop. It does sound great in the front as well but I don't care for the way it interacts with drive pedals there. Just put it in the loop and boost the level slightly past unity and your in business. I've had the Holy Grail, Boss RV-5 and the Van Amps Soul Mate which is the best of this lot but I still love the T-Rex the best by far. Good luck.
