Everything matters. It's been a long time since I heard that clip, but I'm pretty sure he had his Tele on the bridge pickup plugged into the HI input and had the volume cranked up quite a ways to get his sound. I always use an Airbrake with this amp because it gets VERY loud without. But with the Airbrake, all knobs dimed, and the Overdose ON you should be hearing a ton of saturation. If not I'd say your guitar isn't putting out nearly as much signal as any I've ever tried.

That or your playing way way to light. While I seriously doubt the second is the case, but I sat here one day a watched this guy try my amps and they barley broke up at all. I had to play them for the guy to let him hear what they were suposed to sound like.

I was in search of the same tone too - That clip has such a clean overdrive with a hint of compression. I have not been able to get it either...HOWEVER...according to the DVD "Mud on the Lens" - Paisley does a long interview session on his equipment. The guitar he is using on the clip is the 60's Paisely that he put a Lindy Fralin PU in the bridge. I am running the stock pickup that came on the Fender Amer. Std. B Bender. It probably makes a difference. Have not ordered the Fralin but am considering it. FACT IS - my Tele has had a terrible time intonating and a Tech at a Dr. Z dealer (Mark at Wild West Guitar/Riverside, CA) showed me that the PU's in my guitar (3) were pulling really hard on the strings thus causing them to vibrate all over the place after being stuck. We dialed all the pickups way, way into the wood (especially the Strat PU in the middle) So, I probably can't get that tone on the clip because my signal is not so hot. I have ordered the Adder PU for the Neck and a VooDoo for the bridge. May swap out the Voodoo for the Fralin depending on the results I get. I will say this...that tone Paisley got that day in Cleveland was the cleanest dirty I have heard. I was using the new Egnator 30 till I saw that clip and as wonderful as the Egnator is on the clean channel it is not in the ballpark with the RXES. Not close. So if you want the tone I guess ya gotta go with the good doctor and maybe the Fralin.

Weber Blue/silver alnico speakers...probably the 50watt versions I believe your right about the speakers Ronnie, But................. This clip confuses me because I hear Brad say stuff like "with the expand and bright switches up and the volume at noon" which makes me think he is playing an original RX or some one off RXES that had both bright and expand switches!!! I know my original RX has a better clean/hair on the notes than I could get out of the RXES I had !!

mine gets pretty overdriven at noon and much more so all they way up, no matter if i'm using single coils or humbuckers.
and mine is one of the ones with the bright and expand switches, using greenbacks. i believe they're were several prototype RXES made with both switches before the Doc settled on current layout and circuit.
i've played newer versions and they were similiar, more refined overdrive maybe, a hair brighter, more sizzle, IMO

Those speakers were the Weber 50 Watt Blue and Silver Alnico 12" Luckily with my G&L the pickups are hotter and thicker than a standard Tele pups

I'm takin a chance that this may be relavent.....I have a garden variety MIM tele, put in a set of Fralin steel poles, playing straight through a Ben Fargen modified SF Bassman & 4x10 cab and whew!! Squoze some very nice compression and sustain outa that clean beast. Hot signal into the front end of these clean amps can make a diff sometimes.... my $.02

Wildman, I finally found a set-up that really helped my RX es. I had tried a lot of speakers, pedals, etc. and was about at the end of the line. I had a Digitec Eric Clapton Crossroads pedal I had not tried on this amp. I tried it this week. I'm a happy camper now.
Here is the set-up I'm really liking:
Amp Bass and Middle straight up 12 0'clock , Trebble at 9 o'clock. I 'm using the HI input. I've got the Level and both control knobs on the Crossroads at 12 noon, Model # 5.
Believe it or not, with the Amp's OD on and the Volume at only 20 % , I getting pinch harmonics and beautiful drive . With the OD of the Amp off, I'm getting a Fender type Clean Sparkle.
Like you describe, I was unable to get this at full tilt before. I now getting some Bite with the Trebble dialed back.
I'm using a Lonestar Strat with Texas Specials and a Duncan bridge Pick up.
Before, I could get no bite even with Treble turned up. With the Treble turned past 11 o'clock, mine gets unpleasant.
Good Luck,
Rod
