Has anyone a/b'd the Remedy with the Prescription Jr. Obviously it's going to be louder, even on low power. I'm curious about the tonal differences.

While I haven't done a side by each comparison if I could run 2 amps at the same time right now it would be the RxJr with the Remedy.

Well, I've got it as close as I'm going to get without having a Remedy for test purposes by having a 65 Amps Memphis(Monterey) to play with right now.

Funny thing, jumpmarine, a couple of weeks before I got my Remedy I got a real nice Rx Jr head in a trade with Curt. I was familiar with the RxES and thought it sounded great but had never been able to get "my sound" out of it. I heard the Jr at Z-Fest 2007 and thought it sounded great.
Well, I got the RxJr and after getting some tips from Curt on how to set the controls I absolutely *fell in love with it*. I have gone so far as to say that it is challenging the MAZ 18 NR as my Strat "go to" amp, something I never thought I'd say in a million years. However, the Rx Jr to me is a very very different amp than the Remedy.
The RxJr can do a great low volume sound thanks to its master volume and 15W output with a 5Y3 rectifier. However, with the Overdose on and the master maxed it can get pretty darn loud, don't let that 15W rating fool you. I'd say it's at least as loud as the Remedy on 1/2 power. If you read my Remedy "review", the same thing applies to the Rx Jr that I said about the SRZ: it's got a lot of "perceived volume" if you run the treble high. The RxJr (like the RxES) has an extremely powerful treble control, more so than even the KT45. That combined with the Overdose can lead to a really bright sound if you're not careful. I run my treble on "2" (not o'clock, the on-the-dial marking) and it sounds great with a Strat.
Basically, the RxJr:
-Has a very Vox on steroids chime sound with overdrive that reminds you of certain other boutique amps with the Z tightness
-Has *incredible* definition, maybe more than the KT45... you can hear the trem springs on the Strat and even the threads on the tremolo arm as you use the bar
-(especially with overdose on) has an extremely immediate, percussive feel that has some Mazerati GT flavors
-Has a lot of Stangray clarity and chime- here's your Stang Jr right here
-Has those "pseudo active" controls with a lot of range...especially the treble control.
-Has a really tight bass that hits harder than any 15W amp has any right to
The Remedy:
-Has that great Marshall midrange sound that never gets offensive but has great clarity and definition at the same time
-Has that "Carmen Ghia like" string to string balance and smooth overdrive
-Has tone controls that are more for tweaking in a narrower bandwidth, because it
-Has those two channel volume controls that let you shape the overdrive from lower mids to upper mids
Basically the RxJr is a faster, harder, brighter, extremely articulate, Voxy amp with a ton of complexity and immediate feel. The Remedy is still percussive, and has great clarity, but it's got a creamier overdrive and has some of those MAZ and Ghia characteristics we all love. Despite its solid state rectifier it's not quite as "hard" as the RxJr or the KT-45.
Hope this helped.

Well done Phil.
Also glad you found use in the RXJr advice.
These are my two favorite Z's currently.

Phil that was the best description of the Jr I've ever seen written, well done!
It's been fun today and your description of the Remedy is very similar to what I'm hearing with the Memphis. But I found myself coming back to my RX Jr for the chime and articulation, especially with the Blue/G12h30 cab. They both do different things a little better than the other, but the Jr seems to be a bit more versatile for my needs. But I know that I'd love the Remedy too....hopefully later this year I'll get myself one.
