Has anyone done this with success? I know it's really pushing the wattage level, but my guess is that it could be done safely. Yes, each blue is only 15 watts combining for a power rating of 30 watts and the senior is a 38 watt circuit, but could this be done safely without blowing the speakers if you aren't completely cranking your amp? I had a dream that the blues would be sensational in this amp.

You might consider the Weber Blue Alnico speakers - can get them in a 15, 30, 50 watt build. Weber builds some REALLY great speakers - and other gear as well! And, yes, the Blues are "sensational" in the SR.

I've tried weber blue dogs and they are exceptional, but to my ears they aren't exactly like a celestion blue.
You know what I am going to try? I am going to throw a Blue in with he G12h-30. That would be a combined wattage of 45 watts. Also, I think it may be a nice compliment tonally.

I just read your weber thread. I may end up with a celeston blue and a weber 1250 in this amp.

Here's what I posted in another thread. Please read it.
"Don't want to be the wet blanket here, but when you have 2 speakers in a circuit you rate it at 2X the wattage of the lower powered speaker. The physics may or may not be obvious, but the percentage of power that goes through a speaker is related to its impedance. Your 15W Blue will be taking half the power of your amp, thus you rate the combo at 30W.
Now, that being said--the Blues sound incredible; many people have used 2 Blues in similar circuits with good reliability; I doubt you use all the power this amp can make on a regular basis.
Now, THAT being said--it's your choice what you do, it is an expensive speaker to blow, but a 15W speaker + a 30W speaker = 30W power rating. End of story."
Remember, there are no speaker fairies saying "ooh, it's getting hot, let's let the other speaker fairies take the load!" Nope. 2 speakers, rating is 2x the lower of the two. 15W + 400W = 30W total capacity.

I use a 212 Z cab loaded with Alnico Blues for my Prescription ES. I run the vol around 11:00, use the OD to boost lead lines; 4 45-minute sets - no problems.
The Blues sound fabulous with the ES.
With tone and oneness, Mike.

I use a 15 watt Celestion Blue which I run as an extension speaker with the stock Celestion, along with an Airbrake. I've worried about things blowing up, but to date - after over a year of random gigs I've had no problems playing in rooms with 150+ seats.
