Hi, My Maz Sr 38 is a combo w 1 x 12. What would you recommend as an ext cab that I could use in conjunction with the single onboard 12. I don't know anything about matching ohms - is there a cab that would be easy to add on? I'm thinking either one or two 12s, but somehow 3 speakers seems wierd?? I can imagine that stacking my combo on top would be easiest with a single 12 cab. Also, don't know closed or open back? Id appreciate any advice. Thanks

Also, should I think about a 2x 10 to go along with the single 12. Might sound nice??

Yeah, in your case you could go with a 2x10 and and have the 12 to fill it up. One thing is, those other speaker jacks on the back of the amp are NOT extension cab outputs.
What you would need to do is get a Y-Cable (lavacables can make you one), and go out of your amp and Y out to the internal 12" and the external cab.
2nd solution is to get a Hot Plate attenuator and that has the speaker outputs attached to it. That will kill two birds with one stone, take care of attenuating a Maz Sr for low volume playing and split your signal to two different cabs.
You could do the 2x10 or you could get another 1x12 with like a Vintage 30 and mix and match speakers. Options are all open.
Also, whatever cab is on the bottom will get the most bass, so keep that in mind. 2ndly a closed back is going to produce a tighter tone.
If you were going to get a closed back, I'd probably get a 2x12 and only use that (not the internal speaker). Just cause the sound would be so different.

I went with the 1x12 Dr. Z open back with the Vintage 30 about a year ago. At the time that was the recommeded 12" campanion speaker recommended by Dr. Z. Not sure what is recommend now. I like it and if I had to do it again would do it again. But I have not tried any other combination as a comparison.
My "mistake" is that I purchased the combo. Wish I had the head and could swithch and swap out cabs. But that is another topic...
As Paul stated you need the Y cable.
