I A/B'ed the Xotic RC with Keeley's Katana boost: the Katana was the winner for me. It just does the job (boosting) so well, and even adds a little something. The RC is equally good, but I find that if a pedal has knobs, I WILL twiddle. At gigs I seem to think there's always room for improvement, sound wise. So the Katana (no knobs other than volume) forces me to appreciate my MAZ Sr and just relax - no extra thoughts in back of head about 5% more or less bass or whatever! Stomp and play.

I have always thought the Voodoo Labs Sparkle drive was a great pedal. Then I sent it to Robert Keeley for his Mod. After I got it back it was a Phenomenal Pedal. You can dial in vaiable amounts of gain, and the ability to blend the dirty signal from the clean signal is almost like running two amps. Even better yet you can dial it over to the clean side and it's clean boost only. It also allows for controlled harmonic feedback. My favoirites have always been the Tim , the RC booster, and the compcut on a Fulldrive 2. The fulldrive is the most Fenderish sounding of the boost. The Tim and RC don't impart much change on the tone. I think the Tim is the most natural sounding.

You might want to try the Z vex super hard on it it TOTALLY transparent. It hits the front end of the amp really hard. It is my boost of choice. +1 there. its my favorite clean booster! The SHO will give you a little percieved sparkle though. That said I never turn mine off, it melts right into your amps tone, it just give you that little extra something.. The SuperDuper 2 in one is a little darker, plus it lets you use it as an overdrive pedal as well if you want that, or as two separate SHO's.
