I've got a Firebird (check the sig. below), but I don't own a Maz. Are you asking if a Firebird goes well with a Maz or does a Maz goes with a Firebird? (there's a sublte difference )

I've always felt my 'bird sounded like Gibson's version of the telecaster--with huge balls.

Haynes makes these things scream, and I remember back when Dave Mason used to play these live, and of course Johnny Winter... I'm not a fan of the small humbuckers, but maybe with a lighter mahogany Firebird body rather than a big old beast of an LP I've heard them in, I'd like them better. Maybe someday I can convince my sig that another nice, albeit oddly shaped Gibby would be a justifiable expense for the household...
How are these in terms of neck heaviness? The TBirds were infamous for it, but I'd imagine that with less neck mass the FBs are a little better?

My 'bird has factory white plastic knobs, never seen them on any others. I bet they save some weight on the headstock. With a leather strap it doesn't slip.

I got some Ned Steinberg tuners from Stewart-McDonald that are gearless and weigh about half the weight of the original banjo tuners,They are 40 to 1 ratio and tune up excellent,if you own a firebird check them out they releave the neck heaviness.

Those look really sweet on a Firebird headstock. If value didn't matter I'd already have those on my 'bird. The originals work well enough though.
