I'm going get a newer Maz38 Sr. non reverb head tomorrow in a trade.I have a question in regards to impedance.
Does the amp sound different at 16, 8 and 4ohms?If so what's the best impedance to run it at?I already have a 8ohm Blue and G12H30 lying around.
I can't wait to gig it this weekend. ;D

From what I understand in a 2x12 setup, speakers wired in parallel tend to have a damping effect on each other, and sound a little smoother and tighter. On the other hand, wired in series tends to sound a little more raw and open. Depending on what you are looking for, either can be cool. And with 2 8ohm speakers, you can go either way (series-16ohms, parallel 4ohms).
I've had my cab wired at 16 ohms for a while, but I think I'm gonna rewire it for parallel-4 ohms, and see how I like it.
I'll report after a while.

Hi guys. I found that my maz sr lacked a bit of headroom. I run the volume at around 12 or 1 oclock and the master at 3 oclock to full. It had two vintage30s in it but I pulled them and put a g12h and Vintage30 both rated at 8ohms. Tried the amp at 4 and 16 ohms. I liked the 4 ohms for the fuller sound and added headroom. I found it to be an improvement but I changed one of the speakers too. At 16 ohms it was not as loud and was more compressed and broke up a little more which I really liked also but seeing as I was going for headroom and a cleaner sound I have left it a 4ohms. Of course at 16 ohms it is wired in series and at 4ohms it is wired in parralell so I don't exactly how that effects the sound. Both are winners though which tells me that I definatley prefer the v30 with the g12h30. The amp records nicely at low volume too.
