Okay - so I currently have a Maz 38 Reverb 2x12 combo with Celestions and Maz 18 2x10. I noticed at a gig today that the 38 seemed really bright. After I got home I tried hot-swapping between the two, and sure enough - the 38 seems considerably brighter than the 18. Anybody else have similar experience with these two combos?

The 10's are tighter than the 12's.
2nd, hand wired amps are not always consistant. I tried a 38 that where I had to crank the bass to about 3pm. where as on mine I have to keep the bass at 8am.
Plus given age and breakin of the components might add to the differences as well.

Agreed.
Have the 2x12 Jr and Sr. The Jr has a warmer/meatier tone w/a Marshally top end. The Sr is smoother with a more Fendery mid/treble...but with a Voxy smoothness to the top end. Similar setup and use. The 2 amps are definately different animals.

headbone switcher is "pure" fun. Own it, love it! Only need one cabbie to haul, set one "Z" for lead and the brother "z' for clean rhythmn. tonal bliss

Id agree. I had a Jr and replaced it with a SR. I think the SR is more capable of the Fender shimmer clean. I really prefer the versatilaty of the Sr. I also am able to get a nicer OD from the SR, go figure..
